Been coming to Maine for years but this is the first time I've ever been to The Maine Souvenir Shop. Bravo! Well done! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 This shop took 'shop local' to a whole new level, in fact, I'd venture to say, THIS is how 'shop local' is done!!

It's not just the fact that all products they carry either are made in Maine, or designed by a Maine artist, it's the way the staff represent these facts. Starting by the way they talk about this. You can tell that they are proud of this by the way they highlight this every chance they get! A gentleman even 'announced' this randomly to the crowd that was filling the store! And most impressive of all, upon check out, the wonderful young lady told us, as she was putting them into our bag, every single items origin; the local designer, the origin of a particular design, the local maker that made the wooden magnets, the local printer used to make the sticker, even the local women (someone that works there?) who made the doggy treats that they gave my Westie! 'Made from only four ingredients!'.

I mean, this level of pride, happiness, respect, is rare. Even in family owned businesses you seldom feel this level of sincerity. In a way, they are a family. Not sure if this is part of their business plan or strategy, but I hope they get noticed by the local Portland Economic Development Committee, because this model is how you build LOCAL. ...

Strong with the Force and personality, this shop is.

Located in the quirky core of Portland, The Maine Souvenir Shop offers more than just locally made gear—it offers vibes. From Maine-proud apparel and witty mugs to stickers, hats, and even dog bandanas with more flair than a podracer at full throttle, everything here feels thoughtfully crafted and proudly local.

The staff? As warm and welcoming as a campfire on Hoth. Helpful they were, answering questions without hesitation and guiding this Jedi traveler through stacks of funky, Maine-themed finds.

But the true guardian of this outpost? A rainbow gorilla, sitting peacefully in the corner of the store—beanie and all. A true photo-op legend. If Chewbacca ever crash-landed in Portland and discovered TikTok, this would be his spirit animal. My youngling was delighted to take a seat in its vibrant arms—an experience as priceless as Beskar.

If you are looking for UNIQUE and FUN designs (everything is locally designed) - make this your first souvenir shop! Stopped in just before we flew home, and I regret not coming here at the very beginning of our vacation. The owners were welcoming and funny! I had taken notice of a particular design and asked if there was a story behind it. They laughed and gave me the history behind the design. This was amazing! Most places that one tends to stop in while on vacation is stock design that you'll see from shop to shop - NOT HERE! There were so many unique designs and logos on the clothing and that is why I wish we would have stopped here at the beginning of our vacation, so we would at least have had room within our luggage for the flight home to actually purchase more than the little that we did (due to our suitcases already...
