This park is awesome! It's close to the rose garden and has a lot of space. My kids played hide and seek and chased each other around and we had so much fun. And for some context: i am a Portland mom... My kids ages at the time of visiting were 14, 10, and 4. My 4 year old probably loved it the most as it really is a park better suited for younger kids. Here is a list of pros and cons: Pros: It's big and surrounded by trees Shade for sunny days Close to the Rose Garden Great for hide and seek Variety of slides Unique... it has a gorgeous tree growing from the middle of one of the platforms Covered area for parties Restrooms are close It's surrounded by a soft rubber mat There is a sand pit Animal shaped bushes adorn the entrance Plenty of benches and tables Ramps and swings to accommodate disabilities Ideal for young kiddos Close to trails Monkey bars are low for younger kids Cons: Busy Parking can be hard when it's busy Parking cost Not ideal for older kids. My 10 year old rated it a 7 and my 14 year old a 3. Few open spaces... my older kids brought a Frisbee to play with and we had to get creative to play. There is an open space down the road. Upkeep seems poor. The grounds are gorgeous but the structure of the playground has rust Monkey bars not suitable for kids over age 5 There are only 4 swings. Two of them are toddler swings and the other two were regular. They were in high demand. Overall we would definitely go back :) it's one of the best parks in Portland area.

It's best to get here early (before 10 am). It gets very busy and closest parking is along the road. You need to pay to park. The playground is mostly shaded and a good size. There is a sand and water area (Although as of 2021 I didn't see the water going, perhaps it isn't working?) There are plenty of benches and picnic tables. There is even a covered area for picnics close to two bathrooms. Also, there are nearby drinking fountains. This park is very close to the Rose Garden, a snack shack, and info booth that has maps of the entire park (which is quite large).

Nice park designed more towards younger kids 8 and under. Best part is the park is ADA accessible! Featuring a swing, ramp access onto play structure, and wheel chair seating at multiple picnic tables. Small sand pit and possibly a small splash fountain during summer. Walking trails all around. Worst part is paying to park and not having more to do for older kids.

Finally a playground in Portland that isn't proximate to droves of homeless people!

But in all seriousness, the playground has some really awesome structures, and feels quite safe. There is not a fence around the playground, so you'll still have to keep an eye on your kids don't wander off into the street.

The reason I am only giving four stars is because you have to pay for parking even if you only want to stay for a short visit UPS a half an hour. I think...
