South Hill Mall — Attraction in Puyallup

To South Hill Mall Management,

I am writing to report a serious and ongoing issue involving the sale of counterfeit merchandise by tenants at your mall. Specifically:

The “T Shirt Shop” kiosk located in front of Dick’s Sporting Goods, and

“Trendy Toys,” a separate retail store elsewhere in the mall.

Both businesses are engaged in the deceptive sale of counterfeit collectible toys, particularly Labubu designer figures, while deliberately misleading customers into believing they are authentic.

A coworker of mine visited the T Shirt Shop kiosk and was sold what looked like an official Labubu toy — complete with packaging mimicking the real product. However, it became immediately apparent the item was counterfeit, and was being sold for nearly twice the price of a legitimate version found on the official site.

When confronted, the seller casually smiled and said, “You didn’t ask if they were counterfeit,” — a clear admission that they knew they were misrepresenting the product. This behavior is fraudulent and illegal under Washington State law (RCW 9.16.070 and the Washington Consumer Protection Act), which prohibits the sale of counterfeit goods without disclosure.

When my coworker approached mall security, she was told, “We’ve gotten many complaints about that kiosk, but there’s nothing we can do.” If true, this suggests that South Hill Mall is aware of this ongoing illegal activity and is choosing not to intervene. That is not only negligent — it could be viewed as enabling fraud.

To make matters worse, “Trendy Toys,” a separate store in the mall, appears to be engaging in the same deceptive practices — selling counterfeit designer toys without any disclosure. This suggests a pattern of misconduct, potentially by related operators.

Therefore, we are taking the following steps:

Filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau,

Reporting both businesses to the Washington State Attorney General’s Office,

Contacting U.S. Customs and Border Protection – IPR Enforcement,

And sharing this information publicly to warn other consumers.

We are calling on South Hill Mall management to:

Immediately investigate both “T Shirt Shop” and “Trendy Toys”,

Revoke the lease or require full compliance with state law,

Issue a public commitment to protecting your customers from counterfeit and fraudulent vendors.

This is not just about one bad seller — it’s about your mall’s responsibility to ensure that businesses operating under your roof are honest, lawful, and not exploiting shoppers. If complaints continue to be ignored, then South Hill Mall risks not just a loss of trust, but legal...

I've come here several times before opening (taking over) my own business in this mall (took over a business in the Mall, more then a year ago).

I find that the average foot traffic at the mall is more then reasonably low at all hours of the week/day aside from Saturdays; mind you I am from Southern California (San Diego) - where all the Malls are always Hustling & Bustling! and when I first moved up to WA, I lived right by South Center Mall (almost always high traffic).

This Mall has very unique layout, which does NOT support ease of access to all stores and can be kind of confusing as well as frustrating for both customers of the Mall and employees... especially when affected buy parking, which get amazingly bad on the weekends. In other words - you'll do a lot of 'walking back and forth', as well as a lot of 'going around'... depending on your parking and shopping situation. A lot of the stores in the back leg (constructed and added on; later in the life of this mall) have that "out of the way" - "off the beaten path" kind of feel to them.

Over-all they have a pretty basic and decent selection of stores, but it comes back down to the layout of the mall and some of the store in the back leg of the mall kind of getting forgotten.

I've gotten to know some pretty amazing people here. I practically live at my business... so this mall is a second home for me... I do shop here a good amount (mainly cuz I work here); but honestly/personally it's not among my first pick/choices for a shopping...

It was great being their. Some of the darker color women and men, did not speak, the women looked as if they had shame on their faces as though droupped down. Being as not too Look at a darker colored man an be careful at the Fair Grounds perimeter's . I was told yesterday by a Staff member Supposed worker who cares about disabled people; he's a fake, and some mostly All employed abused workers enslaved if your a darker colored man. My friend for 20 years, by the name Golden Rule was injured then discriminated an used this great worker. This man has been attacked by members of Wa. States cities by being token advantage of.. quite underpaid and disqualified even when at his best. Some should help him too aquire a great truthful unafraid Lawyer or Law firm, that will get this man all financial's The Gov't and State Officials stole and misuse of his well being while he still live.. This Man has been subjected to death 5 too 6 times while serving all state and Governed people with a great deal of hospitality skills he has shown a great Love towards All People's!
