New Horizon Spa & Therapy — Attraction in Raleigh

First timer. I was referred to by a friend bc I’ve been having soreness in my neck/lower back so I gave it a try.

Pros: relaxing music, inexpensive. Cons: you hear everything. I heard things that fell, a bang next door, phone conversations, scurrying thru the hallways, everything. It took away from the relaxing atmosphere that a spa should have. They only have curtains for the “door” so it doesn’t help with noise cancellation at all unfortunately.

3-star for the massage therapist, she was a bit rough when I mentioned medium pressure but had to have her go lighter. I appreciated her time & left a decent tip.

I woke up today worse than I was previously. My back feels bruised so hoping it subsides.

This morning I had a massage scheduled with another spa in Raleigh. While I was driving to that spa, I received a call that the therapist was out sick. Obviously that’s out of her control but I was bummed because I had taken off work for the massage. My friend recommended New Horizon spa and luckily they had a morning appointment for me. This is not your typical upscale “day spa” so I wouldn’t suggest it if you’re looking for the “aesthetic experience” over the actual massage. I wanted a full body massage and for someone to focus on my shoulders. Coco gave me the BEST 2 hour massage I’ve ever had in my life! She is so sweet and took her time. I highly recommend her! I visited the establishment recently and it was the worst experience of my life! The staff didn’t speak very good English so I assume they were fresh off the boat. It was very apparent that the massage therapist was untrained. I later found out that this establishment, in particular, the employ unlicensed-untrained massage therapists which is illegal and dangerous!. Stay away from this establishment!!! They are rude to their staff and rude to their customers!!! I reiterate this is an unlicensed establishment. They are untrained and could injure you!
