Victoria Gardens is good, but not the best it could be. It's mostly outdoor, which means that during the Rancho Cucamonga heatwave, you're going to be walking around in blazing weather. Even accounting for the lack of a heatwave, it is almost always 80 degrees or higher on any normal day in the year.
For some reason, they thought it was a good idea to have roads that cut through the mall. Yeah, I love the idea of giant cars gassing up the already hot walk ways and rendering the walking experience annoying. Why are these roads even here? Why can't people just park in the parking lot that circles the entire mall? And since this mall is so close to Route 66, all the loud and proud truck drivers and sports car users just LOVE to rev their engines to compensate for the lack of love in their life. There was this one time the mall closed all the streets allowing everyone to walk around on the roads freely, and it's the best it ever felt to walk here. Sadly, that is not the case most of the time.
In terms of shopping destinations, there are restaraunts, restaurants, clothes stores, clothes stores, and more restaraunts. Sure, there are some stores that branch out a bit. But it is severely lacking in variety. There is no bookstore for instance. A mall without a bookstore is like a human without a spine. The place feels way more bourgeoise than it has any right to be. The prices in every shop is insane. Hardly any low cost options anywhere. If I were to count the shops in the nearby area as a part of Victoria Gardens, then perhaps the shopping selection is wider, but you still have to walk through the Inland Empire heat.
There is a library, and some activites for kids. I can't really speak on how successful these activities are for the families that need them, but since I see tons of families walking around with little kids, I have to assume these activities are doing their jobs. And I have been in the library a few times. It's nice and quiet. Maybe the shining beacon of the mall. Too bad it's obscured by an ongoing construction project that is taking forever to conclude.
My compliments to the atmosphere of the mall. There is an old time America vibe going on with the place. They're always playing some Frank Sinatra on the speakers, and the buildings are painted with some old fashioned signage. There's good care in the presentation of plants around the area. For a place with "Gardens" in the name, it does succeed at feeling like a garden. A good amount of water features are present throughout as well.
During the Holiday season, the place feels so dressed up, you may as well consider it a free ticket to Disneyland. There is a theme park quality on display during the Holiday season, with giant Christmas trees and lights everywhere.
Unfortunately, if you were to visit Victoria Gardens on an average day, it's likely you'd walk around exhausted from the heat and then spend too much on food or clothing. Although if window shopping really is a part of your blood, maybe you'll...

Read moreMy recent visit to Victoria Gardens left me with mixed feelings about this supposedly tourist-friendly destination. While the overall design of the mall's streets and shops is aesthetically pleasing, my experience took an unexpected turn.
After a meal, I visited the bathroom and was disappointed to find it in a dirty state. Unimpressed by the lack of cleanliness, I felt compelled to capture the neglect and took a photo. However, the real surprise came as I strolled between shops.
While leisurely walking from one department store to another, I was taken aback when a guard insisted I stop taking pictures, despite being on a phone call on speakerphone. Despite the guard's polite demeanor, the repeated requests were both intrusive and disruptive to my visit. The focus on restricting photography raised questions about the management's priorities, especially considering the earlier discovery of a dirty bathroom in the food court.
I couldn't help but wonder what Victoria Gardens management wanted to hide. The atmosphere of unnecessary control, coupled with the uncleanliness, was a major turn-off. Visitors should be aware that Victoria Gardens sacrifices customer comfort for strict policies. In the liberal state of California, such restrictions feel out of place. I encourage both the mall's management and potential visitors to consider whether these limitations align with their expectations for an enjoyable shopping experience. With plenty of other malls to explore, I suggest weighing your options carefully.
