If you’re thinking about exploring Redding, stop thinking and just rent a bike from the Redding Bike Coalition. My sister came to visit from out of town and I wanted to show her what makes this place special. I’ve lived in Redding for almost two years, but honestly, I’ve never experienced it the way I did on those electric bikes.
We started our adventure riding along the Sacramento River. The water was a deep emerald green and ice-cold, and the path felt like it belonged to us alone—just bikes, no cars, just nature and quiet. We glided all the way to the native plants botanical garden, crossed the iconic Sundial Bridge (which never gets old), and stopped for a cold beer at the riverfront cafe. We explored the art at Turtle Bay Museum, then capped it all off with dinner at Mosaic before heading back to the bike depot. By the end of the day, we were completely blissed out. Slept better than I have in months.
The team at the bike coalition couldn’t have been more helpful—friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely excited to get people on bikes. If you want to see Redding at its best, do it on two wheels. This is the way to fall in love with the city, even if you’ve lived...
Read moreThis is bogus. You can't get a bike the same day you make an account, but they will charge you for the bikes you tried to rent but won't let you take. This is ultimately just a waste of money to appeal to rich city people. This is gentrification that doesn't help the actual community of Redding, because the actual community is poor and Shasta county hates poor people. Thanks, yet again, for absolutely nothing.
Edit: No, you cannot "buy a pass and have a bike in 15 minutes." The woman I talked to on the phone told me I could not utilize the service because of the pre-authorization hold. I just tried, again, to purchase a pass and get a bike, at a different hub. Yet again, the bike would not release to me, but you absolutely charged me for the use of the bike. So tomorrow, during business hours, I will, yet again, ask for a refund. I will not be attempting to utilize the service again in the future. I own a bike. My boyfriend just bought a bike. Thanks, YET AGAIN for absolutely nothing. This has been nothing but a complete waste of my...
Read moreWe had an incredible experience with Redding Bike Share! My family and I rented e-bikes twice during our visit, and both times were fantastic. The bikes were in excellent condition—comfortable, smooth, and reliable, making our long rides enjoyable and stress-free.
My wife and I are visiting from France, where we’re quite familiar with bike rentals. However, we were pleasantly surprised by how affordable and convenient renting e-bikes was here in Redding. We took a memorable ride all the way to the top of Shasta Dam, covering around 34 miles round-trip. Impressively, after such a long journey, we still had 3 out of 5 bars of battery remaining by strategically turning the bikes off during downhills and flat sections.
This adventure not only allowed us to explore the beautiful scenery comfortably but also made our family outing very special. We highly recommend Redding Bike Share to anyone looking to discover the area in an exciting and environmentally friendly way. Thanks for helping us create...
