Shasta Lodge — Hotel in Redding

wife and I stayed in redding, ca for 3 nights, so we went with a low cost motel to be able to splurge on other thing while in town. Checking the reviews online, Shasta Lodge didn't seem that bad. We checked in to our room, dropped our stuff off, and took off for the day and didn't return till after 10pm. There were small gnats flying around. We just kinda dealt with that. But, Once we started to unpack and get things out of our luggage, we noticed some cobwebs behind the dresser. Looked behind the dresser the whole section of space was covered in spider we and spiders. Looked by the chairs and little table and there too were spiders and webs. Pretty much, behind every piece of furniture and in between smaller furniture there were spiders and webs. We nopped out and I went and told the front desk. He gave me keys to another room, thankfully it was all clear of critters.

I'm giving this place 2 stars because, even though the 1st room was spider themed, the 2nd room was okay. I would come to Shasta Lodge again if it was my last choice of hotel. I'll just ask for a non-spider themed room. Or, Next time, I'll pay 10-20$ more a night for a...

Thank you Hotwire for booking me this 2 1/2 star hotel... Only problem was it was about a 1 star. I went online and booked this room as a Hotwire deal.... "Be adventurous" I was game.... After the auto book I started researching the hotel I had won for the great price! I called Hotwire and argued with them that from the looks of all the reviews and photos I had seen that this is not a 2 1/2 star property. Hotwire made me visit the hotel and see the room first..... Then it was very awkward when I had to tell the front desk attendant that his hotel was not a 2 1/2 star hotel and I didn't want to stay here..... If you are looking for A 1 star hotel.... A clean room .... this is the place..... But if you are expecting a 2 1/2 star and you walk into the room.... Bring a spatula, because you will need to scoop your jaw up... Cause it will be on the floor.... Shame on you Hotwire for believing this is a 2 1/2 star hotel and selling it as one!!!!!! Thank you to Shasta hotel for approving my refund..... My friend and I didn't plan to stay I. redding but came upon the Shasta Lodge using our GPS after a long drive. We called and were quoted 85 dollars but found it for 45 online the desk clerk advised they would honour this price so it's definitely beneficial to ring and enquire. ||We paid 50.40 with tax for a twin room for the night. We were told coffee and Danish were available from 7am. The pool area seemed nice but the pool itself was actually closed. The room was really clean, no issues at all, spacious bedroom area and wash basin then small bathroom. There was a tv with cable and the bed was comfy, air con was provided and free parking and wifi. There were plenty of little restaurants in the area too. Our only concern was when talking to a local in a gas station he advised us that the area in which the Shasta Lodge is located isn't the safest.
