We were in town for the 2024 eclipse and had our pet in tow, so one of us went in to ask if they allow dogs inside. They said yes, but since the space was particularly busy with all the others traveling, they asked us to wait a bit. We did so. After a decent sized family left, we walked in and got stopped with a snarky and belittling "Is that a service animal? We understand they are a part of your family, but only allow service animals."
Then make sure you clarify that when responsible pet owners ask if dogs are allowed, especially if we ask before entering your establishment. We would have kept her in the car or checked out your Visitor Center in shifts.
