Right off Main St, this sushi spot was a delightful little treat for our Friday afternoon. My fiancé and I were looking for a quick place to eat sushi and we LOVE sushi so we decided to stop at Miyabi after doing a quick Google search. When we walked in, I was pleasantly surprised with the decor. It was around 4pm on a Friday and they place was empty but the chefs were all busy making sushi rolls. I guess they had a lot of to-go orders which is understandable being in a college town. Like I said before, I liked the ambiance of the place and we sat up front by the window which gave us a great view of the street life. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We ordered the crab rangoon which came out hot, the perfect temperature! I forgot how much I liked crab rangoon but theses helped me remember. They were so delicious. I also order the chicken fried rice for my daughter and tried it myself and I wanted to eat all her food, it was so good. The sauce was some of the best fried rice sauce I've ever had. We also ordered 3 sushi rolls but I dont remember the names. I just know they were #s 28, 29, and 32 on the menu. They all taste very fresh which is important with sushi. Since we ordered $50 worth of food, they gave us a Chef's sushi roll for free!! I loved that! Overall, the next time I come to Richmond and want sushi, I would come here!

My daughter and I are trying to check out every sushi place that we can! Located downtown Richmond, you might have to drive around to find parking, but there are a few pay to park lots not too far. When we entered, we were greeted by a very friendly hostess who sat us in a cool little area that's a couple steps up over everything else. My daughter and I first noticed the decor of the place, which is very cute and authentic. We ordered a beef Negimaki, a little steak roll appetizer, a rainbow roll, and Victoria's Secret roll. It wasn't overly busy when we came in, I actually think we were the only people in there for 10 or 15 minutes, and then others started to shuffle in. The beef Negimaki came pretty quick, and by the time we finish that our main rolls were up. We thought the size of the rolls we're really quite large. The presentation and coloring were fantastic! Both rolls were nice and fresh and so very tasty! They filled both of us up. Our waitress was super nice and always around when we needed her. I would highly recommend giving Miyabi a try. Plus, their logo is absolutely adorable.

I get delivery from this place regularly. I just received the worst looking sushi I think I've ever seen in my entire life. Whoever made it didn't know what they were doing. It looked like they had never made a sushi roll. Way sloppy looking. However, it still tasted pretty okay. I'll keep ordering, but, oy vey! We'll chalk it up to a bad day. Edited because of the response from the restaurant: Instead of taking responsibility for poorly made sushi rolls, the restaurant blamed the driver. Three of my rolls looked like the rolls in the picture. The packaging was impeccable and tightly packed, and there was no room for the food to roll around. There was no way the driver was responsible for this. Let's just be grown ups and move on. Try rolling the rolls tighter next time. It's an easy fix. Don't worry, I will order again! One sloppy looking meal out of many didn't ruin it for me.

Horrid experience.

Being asked "separate or together" before ordering makes one feel quite unwelcome, as though you're already on your way out the door before even dining. It wasn't mean, just incompetent. The interior was woefully humid with literally no air conditioning on a warm and rainy early June afternoon. There was no music, just stillness, and the dull murmur of a basketball game on the television.

When ordering our entrées, we were bafflingly asked, "Soup or salad?". Now what kind of Japanese restaurant, where you're already overpaying because the establishment is somehow more upscale by virtue of the cuisine's reputation, makes the customer pick between the two basic staples of literally any Japanese meal at any Japanese restaurant in the United States?

The food was the farthest from "Japanese" any Japanese food I've ever had the displeasure of eating. To add insult to injury, when the salad I picked (I can't believe I just typed that) came, it was evident that the ginger dressing was heavily watered down, and the proportion of iceberg lettuce was not generous to say the least.

The tonkatsu consisted of a super-thin fried pork cutlet on a bed of lettuce (!?), not finely-cut cabbage, partitioned with orange (!?) next to a bed of rice topped with hibachi-style vegetables (!?) and an overcooked egg on top (!?). That is not tonkatsu - that is a monstrosity. It was as though the establishment had zero knowledge of what the very simple and traditional dish consists of. The "curry tonkatsu" was the same awful dish with a smidgen of curry sauce underneath the bizarre vegetable, not overtop the pork cutlet as is customary and sane.

I'd heavily advise steering clear of...

I was super delighted with my experience with Miyabi Sushi.

Yesterday I tried to place an order at 9:55pm(store closes at 10) the employee was kind enough to take my order and wait for me to pick it up.

I ordered again today, this time with Ubereats, and I wanted to change sushi which I had already placed. I called them and they told me they would include both items free of charge because they can’t keep sushi overnight. No business has ever gave me this type of service and treatment, no wonder my girlfriend has also loved this place for many years!

Now on to the food, I ordered the spicy Nabe udon with spicy roll combo, crispy rock shrimp, and gyoza. As an Asian-American, who has eaten oriental cuisine for my whole life, I approve of this restaurant. Nabe udon tasted VERY fresh with lots of vegetables. Crispy rock shrimp was just so-so. Sushi was also very good. Also good value. But the best of all was the gyoza. This is not your typical fried dumplings you find at a chinese takeaway. This was an authentic gyoza pan fried, semi steamed.

Take my word for it and try this restaurant if you haven’t. My girlfriend has lived in Richmond for many years now and this is her go-to spot. The staff are all very nice,...
