The grandchildren, all 5 and under and full of life absolutely loved this place. The way I understand it, you can pay once for the day and as long as you keep your receipt, you can leave and come back all day long.
The staff was very pleasant and attentive, not distracted by their phones or friends. They seem to be there because they enjoy their jobs/kids.
We could have spent many more hours there because the kids were having a ball and didn't want to leave when we ran out of time.
I would recommend this place for parents and grandparents alike. It was clean, and the A/C worked well, an absolutely lovely place to get out of the heat and give the kids a safe COOL place to play. I was able to sit and hold the baby who enjoy watching the other kids, again without roasting, or parboiling in the heat and humidity.
It wasn't over priced as so many of these places are.
If I could borrow your thumbs for a minute, I'll give it...
Read moreThe admission is $6. per person. It was $18. for my wife, daughter, and me. It's a neat play area for the size space, but there is nothing for parents to do, and it's not really educational. Older children will quickly get bored. It's geared towards K-3rd grade aged children. If they only charged admission per child, I would say it was worth it, but the fact that they charge adults as well, makes it much less attractive, as does the large request for donations that is front and center, as part of the old bank vault door. I'm not sure why it's called a museum since there are no exhibits, aside from some Vernon Grant art reproductions near the restrooms, and scattered around the play area in odd fashion. You can see his art for free at Glen Cairn Gardens. They will also try to upsell you a yearly family membership for $85., which includes Historic Brattonsville, and the Museum of York County. The MYC is free...
Read moreThe Main Street Children's Museum is a gem located in the heart of downtown Rick Hill. It's perfect for children aged infant-age 5 probably. My son is 3 and loves it! My daughter is 10 months and, if it's not crazy busy, can crawl around and play with things. I brought my 7 year old niece, however, and she was pretty bored. There is a lot of the little ones to do. Please know that this is no Discovery Place Kids. With that said, this place is half the cost and easier for us to get to from South Charlotte. They have a dress up room, an awesome train table, play kitchen, reading nook, a pirate ship, a bucket the kids can fill with beanbags and pull up with a levy to dump them. My son can spend a few hours here, mostly playing trains. The only downside is that it's a little small when it gets really busy. Kids end up waiting a lot to do...
