I had been a client of one of the nail technicians I’ll call her “N” here for over a year and always very consistent with my appointments. Over a month ago I called to make an appointment to get a new set of acrylics finally since I have not been back since they reopened in the summer. I booked an appointment and four days before the appointment I found out I could not make it due to childcare changes with virtual schooling so therefore I called the salon to explain this and reschedule. I spoke with the owner and at first it seemed to be no problem and the appointment was rescheduled for a month later because “N” is that busy and certainly the appointment I had cancelled would be easy to fill. I get off the phone with the owner and five minutes later I get a phone call from her saying that she made a mistake in not getting a booking deposit from me because now I have cancelled on them twice. I asked her ‘when did I cancel prior to this time?’ The date she says is March 18, 2020 which is days after restaurants and many other businesses had already closed due to the severity of the pandemic. I cancelled for both mine and “N”’s safety it would have been an absolutely ludicrous and irresponsible choice to have Kept that appointment. I explain exactly this to the owner to which she tells me that in cancelling what I did was lose them money and she continued by saying “the pandemic did not just affect you it affects me also and my money and You should take that seriously and i won’t make an exception just because of the pandemic” this goes on for minutes with her interruptions while I try to talk calmly and she continues on her ridiculous rant about my selfishness for thinking canceling on March 18 should be an exception. While she is repeatedly interrupting me I tell her “I will give you my card info I am just not understanding the logic behind this and I have always been a good customer and client of “N”’s.”She did not care in the least and amidst her frustration with me giving her a proper logical explanation she tells me she is cancelling my appointment. She said to me “I don’t care I don’t want your card information anymore you’re done” She chose to sabotage a client relationship for her employee, take money away from her employee because she had no ability to deal with customers properly. It’s a shame this place is owned by someone like that and even more of a shame that someone with talent like ‘N’ works for someone who would interfere with her career like that. Called the following day and they were nice and fixed them for free. Three hours later 3 of my stones fall off while I’m scratching my damn foot !! yet i was charged $85 + tip for this service.
UPDATE: called Hot Tips Nail & Beauty Lounge and asked for a refund. The woman who originally answered the phone was extremely nice and helpful. Then MARYBETH got on the phone and accused me of yelling and being rude which I was FAR from being rude or even raising my voice at all. She tells me to come back to get them fixed and I explained to her that I live 45 minutes away from the salon and I don’t want to come back every single day to make sure my nails are intact. Marybeth hit me with the “come back and fix it or deal with it because we don’t do refunds”
I have NEVERRRRRRR been treated so wrongly when spending my money at a company who’s name holds such high standards. I walked in expecting the pretty nails that THEY POSTED ON THEIR INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT, but walked out with something my 9 year old niece could’ve done.
I was also informed by a friend that she got an infection so bad on her foot that she could HARDLY WALK from a pedicure she got at this abomination of a salon.
STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!!! They only post their best work and fail to mention that only a few of their techs are good with design and shape. The rest of the girls have no idea what they’re doing
I also want to add that I’m NEVER one to complain or bash someone’s name but with how I was treated VS the money I paid for TRASH - I’m warning everyone. This is not at all about the money, I've paid over $100 for a set for GOOD quality and what I received is far from quality let alone the disrespect I encountered
Hands down the absolute worst salon I've ever experienced. I've lived in many different places, this is my first time here in Jersey for a friends wedding and came here to get my mani/pedi. They do not speak very good English so it's hard to communicate with a translator be it with they phone or a person but that's not the issue. They over filed both my nails and toes and when I was asking for the style I wanted, they had an attitude about it and would not listen to what I wanted done. I ended up filing my own toes to get the desired angle, one was slanted and one was very even. Looked very weird and I explained I was going to a wedding. Still with a positive attitude even after being treated badly by the manager or owner I went to sit with the nail tech, I explained what I would like done, She wouldn't listen and went in to do it how she thought it should be dine. So rude. I want to like my nails and think they are pretty not just get them done to get them done and feel dissatisfied because I just let her do what she wanted. I I know what I like and have had this done many times... in fact I'm very simple and wanted neutral nude with square round because of how big my hands are. She didn't acknowledge or understand what I wanted so she snapped at me and stopped doing my nails. She overfilled my nails and said I was semtive, when no, actually my nail stops at a certain point and you are going into my skin. Still kept positive and kept trying. Ended up leaving with no nails, pain from over drilling and filing and Odd acrylic on my toes that I had to fix myself. Really disappointed and wanted to like this place and my experience with my friend. Also, The owner/ manager went out to the front lobby and openly spoke about me without even understanding what I was trying to explain to him, he literally rolled his eyes at me and had a rude demeanor.
