ALDI — Attraction in Rocky Hill

Where to start. I need to stop in for a quick thing and it takes a half an hour. Why? Because they usually do not have what I need and I have to get creative. Then wait in line behind 10 people.

They save money by not hiring enough people. I would gladly pay an extra nickle per item just to have another cashier working. I hate when they throw my stuff in the cart and start loading someone elses before I can even gather my things.

The past two times I went there they were out of the items I needed. This has happened plenty of times previously only this was just in the past two weeks. 1 no iced coffee. 2 No regular yogurt they were out and only had light. Sounds petty but this is literally every time with one thing or another Funny thing is I went in only to pick up coffee. I wanted to make stuffed shells once but they had no ricotta cheese. This was apparently normal to them the worker thought nothing of it "that always sells out" I was told. I drove 10 minutes to get there because it was five minutes closer thsn the other store. Then I had to drive to the other store anyway. Oh, they have no telephone number for customers. You cannot even call to check if they have something.

Aldis takes an extra 45 min out of my day almost every time because when I swing in there for a couple things I end up needing to go elsewhere to get some things. Literally doubles the shopping time by driving to another store. Time, gas, miles on the vehicle. It is time I stop spending more by going to aldis to save 50 cents on a granola bar or something.

Those signs that say why pay more for the same thing if the quality is the same, what nonsense. Eat a name brand granola bar from a grocery store and then an aldi one right afterwards. You will want to spit it out because it tastes and feels...

I am a self-confessed Aldi addict. Their prices are usually the best. If I spend $100 a week on my Aldi groceries I know that the same products would have cost me $150 at one of the big name supermarkets. They keep their prices low by offering a smaller selection of products - one type of tomato pasta sauce instead of the 16 you'll find at a large supermarket. Another way they keep their prices low is because the don't need as many staff as a regular supermarket - they don't have to pay someone to individually load shelves with canned products - they just put the whole box on the shelf - not pretty but who cares? The cheese and deli meats are really good, Aldi is a European company so they sell lots of high quality imports made for the more gastronomically sophisticated populations across the pond. The only thing that I avoid at Aldi is their fresh meats. These tend to be lower quality and higher priced than you'd find at a large supermarket. However, Aldi's fresh and frozen seafood is the BEST. Great value and selection. Their fresh Mediterranean flavored...

Such a great store. I've shopped there for years now. Certainly a different take on the typical grocery store. If you want to save weekly on good quality foods, shop here.

You'll need a quarter for your grocery cart as Aldi has only a few employees that work each shift. Also bring bags unless you would like to purchase some upon check-out.

The store and food selection is well laid out. Not an abundance of choice but, good foods at a much lower cost. We typically save $50-$100 weekly versus purchasing the same items at Stop & Shop.
