The beer that I tasted was pretty good. It seems like they have some good one offs and specials. The food was very good. I had the Caprese pizza which came with a little bit of salad on top and was outstanding. My only real complaint had to do with paying my bill.
I decided to get some beers to go at the end of my meal which were added to my bill. When I asked for my bill, she handed me the little self-pay tablet and it was for the entire price of everything including the to-go beer and asking me to tip on all of it. When I asked her for a breakdown, she said she couldn’t give me a breakdown until after I signed. I told her that I wanted to know what everything cost so I could remove the to-go beer and tax. She gave me a quizzical look. I had to explain to her that I don’t normally tip on something that I’m going to personally get out of the fridge and walk out the door with. I only planned to tip her on the food that I ordered and the beer that she poured. I also had to explain that I wasn’t going to tip on the tax. After explaining all of this, she was talking to one of her coworkers about it. The whole thing was just really frustrating because she couldn’t give me a breakdown until after the fact so I had to figure it out.
After all was said and done. I was also surprised to see that there was a 3% charge for credit card. This was also included in the tip amount. Honestly, that’s just bad business!
$26 for food and drink. $21 for to-go beer. $1.41 for 3% credit card surcharge + tax $3.80. The tip options were based on the...
Read moreHere's the thing. We ordered fish and chips and the steak salad. The batter on the fish was incredibly bitter yet shockingly crisp, and the fish was moist and delicious, but lacking any seasoning. Despite seasoning being visible on the fries, there was no flavor. The steak on the salad was super tough. Additionally the presentation of a sit down restaurant with a bar attitude is a little confusing if you don't know what to expect.
There is a redeeming quality in the servers. All of the servers we spoke with were very kind and helpful, but all things in the same basket, I can't recommend Voodoo. It is very possible we came in on a bad night, but I'm not sure we would consider trying them a second time.
Edit 5/20: Following the owner's review, I am bumping this up to 3 stars. To be clear, there are way too many people out there using platforms like this to try to get free stuff or refunds, that wasn't my interest at all. I am grateful for the thoughtful response and the refund, but that wasn't my intent at all - This is a very young location for the area, and we genuinely wanted to give it a fair shot and leave what we felt was a fair review. I'm willing to allow that a lot of the confusion was on my part, which is why I'm willing to bump it to 3 stars, but at the end of the day this may not be the place for us. Folks who are into the brewpub idea will be much better...
Read moreMy husband and I frequent breweries a lot. We've been to places all over the country. The good for this place is their beer is spot on. Very flavorful, good balance, not too carbonated. I did a 6 beer flight and really enjoyed every single one I tried. The food, as well, was spot on. Good quality, good flavor, good variety to choose from etc. Now the bad: when did breweries stop using proper glassware? My husband ordered an IPA and it came in a Belgian glasses holding only 13oz. Where did 13oz come from? What happened to IPA glassware or just a regular pint glass and pouring an actual proper pint. This was a draft, just charge accordingly. We just feel ripped off getting such a weird size and then still paying $8-$9 for it. I also didn't like being handed a electronic device to take my payment. The girl stood there staring at me while I fumbled to decide on the tip. The tip options started at 23% and went up from there? You do realize that with increasing prices, the tip automatically increases as well. I had to custom tip button my way to paying the 20% the girl earned. So please do not stand and stare at patrons while they pay. I miss the old...
