I shared my feedback with the restaurant but did not receive a response. Here is what I wrote to them on 2/6/21:
I had a very poor experience during my first ever visit to the Melting Pot today. We attended the advertised "Little Cupid" event at the location in Roswell, Georgia. My girlfriend's daughter brought a card and candies for the promotion, which is supposed to include endless chocolate fondue.
After the host (also the manager) seated us in a table that did not have a light above it (it was turned off, they had to go turn it on). Our server, who seemed quite inexperienced, took our order. He didn't understand anything about the supposed event and went to confirm with his manager. He returned and asked us "which one of us (me or my girlfriend) work in the medical field". We explained that the promotion is to bring something that is given to medical workers, not that we had to be one ourselves and asked for the manager to straighten this out.
The host, an older gentleman, returned to discuss and he suggested that the event was incorrect, that it was supposed to be free endless chocolate fondue if we were medical staff. My girlfriend and I really were confused, as there is no fair reading of the promotion that would lead to that expectation. I will note that my girlfriend has taken her daughter to similar promotional events in the past at other Atlanta are locations without any issue.
The manager said that the promotion wasn't right, and that it was his boss who messed up, but that he was going to say okay and give us the endless chocolate fondue.
The rest of the service was pretty unremarkable. My girlfriend commented how out of character the whole meal was compared to their prior times visiting (which they do several times a year for mom-daughter dates). Then the check came, and we were being charged an extra ~$20 for the endless chocolate. The server brought the 'manager' back over and he said "oh what did we agree to?" and we had to haggle with again about the event that we brought the item for.
This is all pretty frustrating having to take place in front of her 9 year old daughter. Especially as this was an event posted on the Roswell Melting Pot website for weeks beforehand (and it still describes it as we interpreted it), not to mention it was sent out in an email to my girlfriend which is why she made the reservation.
As we were finishing up, we saw two other parties come in with the card/gift for the Little Cupid event and wondered if they were going to have to go through the same hassle.
I may give your restaurants another try because my girlfriend said this was completely out of the ordinary, but I was severely underwhelmed and I don't have a desire to return...maybe I will give it one more shot, but it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in my life.
Thank you for listening to my concerns/frustrations.
EDIT. Despite you saying that you did not receive my feedback directly, you did. I have attached a screenshot of the Melting Pot response email from the contact form on your website. Perhaps someone is deleting the unfavorable feedback and you should look into this. If you are serious about contacting me, please provide me a mechanism to talk to...
Read moreMy girlfriend and me did a second night of Valentines Day last night at this Melting Pot. I am grow up in the area and had driving by this restaurant so many times and never thought it was upscale since the plaza that it’s in is not anything different than the many other ones in the Roswell/Alpharetta area. I was a first timer but my girlfriend had been many times before just at Melting Pot more around Atlanta. I wanted the whole experience had to be walk through how the 4 course meal especially with the limited time Valentines Meal. We started off with each getting Caesar salads which was one of the four options for course 1 and with some drinks(they weren’t strong at all). Second we shared a Cheese Fondue and dipped items in after our waiter Bill cook it up, the cheese turn a bit longer to get warm then we wanted to wait so we didn’t quite get the true experience on our course 2. Third, we had our main course of chicken, shrimp, lobster tails, potatoes, broccoli, and wild mushroom sacchetti which we cooked in the Mojo broth. I personally didn’t like the Mojo broth, I was more looking for a garlic taste more than a citrus one but my girlfriend really enjoyed it. We got another round of drinks and I got one that ended up being very heavy this time around and my girlfriend switch to wine but the key thing was we were one the few last couples there yet the drinks took as much time as if they were very busy. We spend a bit longer on course 3 since the mojo broth took a bit longer to took our chicken since stove kept turning off. The last course was the dessert which we have a milk chocolate fondue but by that time it was a little after 12am which we felt bad about keeping the staff their so late and we just couldn’t eat anymore food so we ended up taking the desserts to go. The total experience took around 2 hours which is a bit longer than we would has like it, the service was a bit slow counting that it was towards the end of the night having only 3 more time slots you could have reserved after ours(10:15pm), and the drinks were much more pricy than they should have been especially since I got my berry mojito is a sweet tea cup(my girlfriend explained that to me), and the manager keep walking by our table giving a look as “are you guys done yet?” I wrote this review from the perspective of a first timer and went into it being open to the whole experience, if you are looking to have an experience this might be the place for you. I would recommend going more into Atlanta to another one since I have been told the purpose of the courses is quicker(we just couldn’t get a night reservation so we came here), be ready spend so serious money because two person’s 4 course meal even outside of the Valentines meal is between $69-$79 regular per person, drinks are just as pricey for mixed drinks and wine tends to be around $10-$14 per glass, and if you could at night you might feel rushed at least we did even though the service was a bit slow. I couldn’t really take too more off for the slow service because other waiter brought over extra spicy spice for my girlfriend to try and everything was fresh as well as we had a great...
Read moreWe went to the Melting Pot tonight, October 5, for a belated anniversary celebration. Our anniversary's really the first week in September, but various things made it impossible to go out for a date night.
Our waiter was a guy named Leo who was a fun, charming, and perceptive guy. They didn't tell him we were his tabl (his last of the evening), so to apologize for the genuinely short and reasonable wait, he got our dessert comped. So the night started with a pleasant surprise.
They were doing a special tonight called the "fondue raiser", in which we got a special selection of pork, chicken, shrimp, and two kinds of beef (teriyaki sirloin and filet), an appetizer, and dessert with a portion of the bill going to charity -- building homes in Honduras.
Leo was entertaining as well as informative. He told us every step of the process of fondue, and added a cute little story about how he tried to impress a girlfriend when he was much younger by making her chocolate fondue -- and it didn't work out. And now that he's an old pro, he's never made it for a girl since. He also told us a cute story about how many customers come to eat at the Melting Pot who receive fondue pots as gifts but never take it out of the box.
The food needless to say was delicious. We chose the option to cook in vegetable boullion, which made it a little tricky to determine when the pork was done, but everything was pre-seasoned to perfection, and the side sauces were marvelous. Leo heard me say the green goddess was my favourite, so he brought out two extra servings of it! Needless to day I did not let it go to waste!
Leo was also very attentive. He noticed that The Spark doesn't care for lemon in his water (he'd brought it out that way at first), so brought subsequent glasses of water without it.
So the food was fantastic, the drinks were fantastic, the sauces were fantastic, and the dessert was ... fantastic is an understatement. Bacardi 151 soaked marshmallows rolled in oreo crumbs and then dipped in dark chocolate marshmallow oreo flambe fondue? I am still blissing.
The meal was just the right size that we left pleasantly comfortably full and not overfull, and had nothting to bring back ...well, except the salad, because Leo forgot to bring those out, but he was super apologetic, and we weren't the slightest bit fussed about it.
We'll be going back on The Spark's birthday. And then again on mine. And our next...
