I went to Discount Electronics as a disappointed HP customer due to a swollen battery on my barely 3 year-old Pavilion laptop. I had previously asked HP to replace the battery and the case as the swelling cracked my case next to the power button. They wanted over 50% of the initial cost to repair my system despite THEIR battery consistently passing THEIR tests and not being part of their battery recall. I did get a replacement battery (under warranty) and tried to replace it myself. Immediately, I realized 20+ years building desktop systems wouldn't work on laptops; so we went to Discount Electronics in Round Rock and spoke to Richard. I was surprised and pleased with a price under $50 to change the battery for us! He changed it and pointed out that my earphone Jack was cracked (damage from the swollen battery???). He changed the severely damaged battery, closed the case back up and used a power cord to make sure the new battery was working and charging (I forgot to bring my charging cable). I was happy that my swollen keyboard went back down but I now have a crack in the chasis next to my power button. If you have a Pavilion, I would STRONGLY suggest you take your system to the AMAZING techs at Discount Electronics to make sure your battery isn't swelling. When we saw it, we were scared at the possibility it could have exploded and caused a fire in our home!!!! HP failed this longtime faithful customer! Discount Electronics has amazing customer service and while they can't mitigate all the damage, I left happier than when I walked in. If I can't repair it myself, I will only trust the techs at Discount Electronics to touch my systems. In a time where customer care is dwindling, it's refreshing to find a tech repair shop with integrity and knowledge and REASONABLE prices 💗 I would rate my experience a 10+ but Google only let's me go as high as 5. Very happy customer here. They have 3 locations to serve the Austin, Round Rock and Pflugerville areas. Richard is at the Round...
Read moreThis was maybe my third visit to this store. I walked in with my computer to be looked at, but ready to purchase another one if I had to. While Rico undertook the task like a personal challenge to figure out my technology issue, the "little guy" (for lack of a better term & only because I can not remember his name) literally educated me on what the different parts of a computer do and how to recognize what is essential & most beneficial for me operationally & financially. I realize I was ignorant to the technology but he never made me feel stupid, actually I left smarter! I was blessed to get my computer fixed within minutes (at no charge), but I will definitely be purchasing my next computer from Discount Electronics, Round Rock Location. I have never been so impressed with customer service. Other customers were in & out in a flash. They knew one by name and you could tell he was happy to do business there. The "tech guy" was helping another customer when I arrived (a talker like me) and he was so patient with him. He was also eager to help when Rico asked for assistance with my machine. I can tell these guys are good people through their kindness, patience, & willingness to serve. May God bless you for your character, boys. When I drive by I'll point and say, "The Three Wise Men work there and they...
Read moreThese guys are awesome! I bought a floor model (all in one) touch screen Dell monitor with built in cpu from Walmart 3 years ago and got a super low price since it was locked up and they didn't have the passwords/key. My place of work has an IT department so I thought one of them could break the codes (to pass the BIOS and HD) but they couldn't and they said I needed to replace the motherboard. I took it to these guys and they were able to break through the BIOS but not the HD so they replaced the HD and got it all up and running for a much lower price than I thought. They made it possible to use my $1000 set up for about $250 ($113 for their services and $140 for the item at WM). The counter guy (small framed slim white guy with an upbeat and very knowledgeable attitude) was also awesome and courteous. Will continue to go here for my computer needs. Fast forward to today. My wife needed a laptop for schooling and Justin (photo portrayed in Ms. Sasa's recent review, he's got glasses and wearing a green shirt with a smart watch) and he was very knowledgeable, super nice and down to earth kinda guy. He informed us of model types and ages and the laptop we got was ages faster than one we were strongly considering on Amazon for only $40 more. Thanks, Justin, for your professionalism and strong customer service...
