This has long been a favorite date night choice of ours. We frequently recommend URBAN to others as well. I’m not sure we will be back again though after our recent experience. We dined here for our 20th anniversary. Food was ok but not as good as it usually is. My husband’s portion was noticeably smaller than comparable dishes we had ordered there before. Certainly not worth the price charged. When it came, the first thing he said was that he was sure he would be hungry later. The waitstaff were loud and cussing and just being very unprofessional. Walls were dirty as was the entrance to the kitchen which is very visible from the bar and bathrooms. One waiter was bragging about getting phone numbers from young female customers and making crude jokes about it very loudly. He literally ran across the restaurant toward the front door making quite a scene to catch up to a girl to get her number and then came back in bragging. We have daughters and I did not appreciate hearing that and found his jokes offensive. The same waiter also made a comment to my husband about an employee speaking Spanish to a female employee and how that was not racist and that he wasn’t making fun of her because she didn’t speak English at all. I don’t know if he felt the need to say that to my husband because he is Mexican? Why would we think that was racist to begin with? We weren’t even paying attention to any of the conversation as we were talking to each other which he very loudly interrupted. It was a very uncomfortable experience over all. My husband told the manager about all of this after we had closed our check and he didn’t seem to care much and even made excuses for the roach on the floor under my seat that we did not make a huge deal over and discreetly asked to have swept up. We understand people are short staffed and good employees can be difficult to find and we were still very polite and left a tip for the bartender as we sat at the bar. This however was just not acceptable and we left feeling disappointed and wishing we would have eaten and spent our money elsewhere. I’m giving it 3 stars because our other experiences have been great, but we probably won’t be back. If this had been my first visit here it wouldn’t even have...
Read moreWe arrived here for a few drinks after a birthday dinner for a friend and were not aware they were near closing (it was 9:30 and they closed at 10, come to find out after asking our waiter). We were seeking live music and started making our way through the front door to the patio where the performers were when a couple of us out of a party of 6 were approached by the bartender scrutinizing us for not waiting at the hostess stand to be seated which, I might add, was nowhere near the front door, but over near the restrooms over to the right where there wasn't a 'please wait to be seated' sign anywhere in sight. Still, the young lady bartending who approached us never indicated they were closing soon, where at that point I never want to be the guy who comes in last minute and holds up the staff from their closing duties, to which I would've made the call to pivot and go somewhere else that wasn't closing soon. Instead, we were met with a snooty attitude as they started gathering menus and silverware for us, to which I responded we were just there for drinks. They did take our drink order, but after the first round we felt we were being forced out by the waiter handing simply handing us our check. Again, I would've made the call to go somewhere else instead of being one of the remaining parties in attendance, but even the head cook came out of the kitchen after our arrival and appeared upset that we arrived 30 minutes before closing. I even distinctly remember listening to four songs played by the performers before they started packing up. I get it, everyone wants to go home on time, but at least inform your patrons before forcing them out. We visited the rooftop venue a few months ago for my birthday and thoroughly enjoyed it, which gave cause for visiting this location. Not so sure I'd revisit this establishment based on the lack of professionalism and poor attitudes. Our fault for not double checking the hours of operation, but it kind of put a damper on my buddy's birthday celebration. Pretty disappointing, since it seems like a cool spot to relax and...
Read moreOverall a rather disappointing second experience at Urban. We were meeting for a friends dinner, and the staff seemed to either not care or didn't know have a clue about how to run a restaurant. Here are the misses that the manager should be aware of to improve in the future.
We arrived early and grabbed a drink at the bar. The bartender decided to take the drink order for my wife, but completely ignored me and seemed to have an attitude about it. After all in our party arrived, there was no hostess or service to see us to our table. We literally wondered in and made the assumption of where we should sit based on the number in our group. Our waiter asked 1 person what appetizers they'd like to order, and ignored the rest of the table. The rest of the table only realized this after that persons food began to arrive. When ordering dinner, several items were unavailable because they had run out of ingredients (it was early in the evening, so clearly there are kitchen management & supply issues). My wife's order was wrong (usually not an issue, but she doesn't eat meat, and her sandwich was piled with meat). My dish (chicken fried steak/beans/mashed potatoes) was dead cold. The gravy was water, the mashed potatoes were ice cold, the beans were undercooked, and the chicken friend steak meat was so shriveled up that at least 1/2 of it was burnt breading. This was a most disappointing meal. Our server did check each couple out, but first showed the breakdown of line items on the POS terminal, then pull it back (thus hiding the gratuity summary), then returned it for us to close out the transaction. Those that weren't paying attention after the tip section was entered, ended up tipping twice. This felt quite sneaky.
Overall so many massive misses to ever return anytime soon. I hope they get their house in order, or I can't see...
