Royal Oak Station — Attraction in Royal Oak

Waited over an hour in freezing temperatures below 10 degrees, only for the train to then be another 30 minutes late. Not a single heater or inside space to wait and this was at 6am so no businesses open to warm up in either. This station will give someone frostbite or worse, and even after an hour being late not a single update from Amtrak themselves about it. Amtrak is usually leaning towards complete indifference, but this type of incompetence is borderline negligence and they are lucky I was able to get an Uber to a friends hotel and warm up before getting severely sick. I will not be taking this stop again ever and most likely will avoid Amtrak completely from not on, if I could give 0 stars I would. Totally unsafe and...

The Amtrak stop in Royal Oak is nothing but a track side shelter along the tracks.The Smart bus transit center is across the parking lot and riders are welcome to wait there indoors during hours of operation.Parking is $5 per day Sundays and holidays are free.For those who are visiting Royal Oak or utilizing the Smart bus this is a good connection point.However,if you want a better station head north 3 miles to Coolidge and 14 mile in the shopping center by Krogers.The new Troy station is enclosed plenty of free parking and it sits within the shopping complex behind the Kroger's.Fir those in Oakland or Macomb county this is the station...
