I’ve been here 4 times in two months and I live over an hour away! I also take my family and friends here. I love most of the food here and here’s my review…
Bali Kitchen is located in the beautiful Old Town Sacramento, close to all the candy, toy, and other fun shops. Street parking can be hard to find during busy hours. There is a parking garage nearby that charges $1.50 per half hour. There is outdoor seating only, so bring a jacket if you go when it’s cold. Sometimes the staff isn’t right by the door, so ring the bell!
My friend and I tried the Nasi Goreng / Fried Rice, Tofu Curry, and Goat Soup / Soto Kambing, Resoles, Es Cendol. The Es Cendol needs a little bit more brown sugar. Resoles was good but not amazing. So they weren’t my favorite. My friend liked the tofu curry because it felt fresh. The Nasi Goreng was pretty good. My favorite was the Goat Soup, I ordered another order for to-go so that I can have it at home.
The next few times I went with family and friends and ordered more dishes. We liked the Nasi Uduk and Es Kelapa drink. Bakmi Goreng was pretty good too!
Can’t wait...
Read moreBali Kitchen in Old Sacramento is one of those restaurants that feels like a true hidden gem. Walking in, the space is small and unassuming, but once the food arrives, you know you’ve found something special. I ordered their mango salad, and I can honestly say it was one of the best salads I’ve ever had. The flavors were bold, refreshing, and beautifully balanced between sweet, tangy, and savory. For the main course, I went with a chicken satay dish, and the peanut sauce was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. The skewers were cooked perfectly, tender and juicy with just the right amount of char. What stood out most to me was the authenticity - the dishes didn’t feel watered down or overly Americanized. It truly felt like Indonesian home cooking brought to life in Sacramento. The staff were kind and welcoming, making sure we had everything we needed. I left feeling like I’d discovered something rare and authentic that I’d want to share with friends. Bali Kitchen may be small, but it delivers big on flavor and...
Read moreGood food, great service, nice variety and all items as described. I'm no expert in authenticity butit was all delicious and they label all ingredients and spiciness well enough for me to navigate. The fried rice is amazing and not oily at all. Generous portions of meat. Fairly unusual spices even in dishes you may expect to be similar to other asian dishes. The goat soup bone/stew was good flavors and and tender meat. I also had Roules (spelling?) Like a spring roll, creamed chicken and veggies in a crepe and deep fried. Thai tea was nice and creamy,...
