I have been at The Pit SLC from day one. I will preface by saying I am in my forties, have always been active, had a personal trainer for years off and on when training for marathons. I have 3 kids, a full time job and find it difficult to schedule time to workout. The reason I started the "Pit Fit" class was because it runs the same time as the kids Jujitsu. This gym has all levels of fighters, and the classes are structured accordingly. The instructors are professional fighters, and each one has a wealth of knowledge. They teach the class they specialize in, and correct form throughout the class. Ramsey, Dom, Sarah teach the majority of the classes. I have seen fighters from around the world come to this gym for additional instruction before UFC and PFL fights. The gym is VERY clean, bags, weights, and training equipment are in good shape. Ramsey promotes a respect for the sport and everyone training in the gym. I have grown as a person and individual with the support of this gym. The workouts require much physical and mental effort. Read moreIf you want to know self defense in the SLC area this is THE place to be! The owners are super friendly and very involved in everyone's success at the gym. Coach Ramsey and coach Marco speak from first hand experience of what works and what doesn't when it comes to self defense. To me there's nothing more important.
If you are new here's a little information that may help as well. I've been boxing and practicing BJJ for 5 years, it's always a little scary and intimidating going to class even for me today. It's important to surround yourself with a community like The Pit to make sure you feel comfortable training...
Read moreClasses at The Pit can be a family affair. My husband trains with Ramsey twice a week for jiu-jitsu and mma and Dom on Wednesdays for Athletic Development (teaching you to move correctly so you don't hurt yourself). Dom also teaches children with Autism to help their gross motor skills. My 12 year old son was in a lot of pain and didn't want to move. The doctor said his muscles were imbalanced due to the way he moved. 1 month of classes with Dom and no more pain. We are on month 2 and he has shown so much improvement and his self confidence has sky rocketed. The pit has a place for everyone and both evening and morning classes. Thanks...
