This place has an endless potential BUT the staff are NEEDLESSLY SLOW and need to be retrained or replaced!
We have visited this place over 30 times now but today ‘s experience has finally broken my patience and I had to write my review.
Today, we came for a first visit for 2023 at this local coffee shop. Without fail, there is this particular barista who always lose focus and chats to her friends for a ridiculous length of time every time we visit. Today she made me wait 15 minutes upon ordering (when it was clearly NOT busy) standing right there while she took her sweet time to chat while dropping the ball on her paid work. I tried to not ruin my day and patiently waited. Then another friend of hers join the conversation while her co coworker busily took orders. With over 8 cups backfilled she continued to yack away for an unreasonably long time. The sad thing is she does this ALL the time we see her on roster. My friends who ordered tea were already through their drinks by the time i joined them over 15 mins later… Such behavior is very disrespectful of her. She never smiles, never friendly, never stops yacking. If I was the owner of this cafe, I would fire her right away. I am keen to reach out to them. After a consecutive snow day, today was our first outing but we were so irritated by this disrespectful, unprofessional barista who does this every time we come here! To owners: Please remind your employees that other people’s time is valuable too and they should take long personal conversation during their breaks or other time not when there are people waiting to get their drinks. I hope your employees improve their attitude towards a service mindset for the new year! Your staff are needlessly SLOW and unmotivated to be more efficient! I totally agree with previous low rating reviews regarding the slowness. Slow service, average to poor coffee, unmotivated staff!!! I am so done! In 2023 we are taking our business elsewhere. Even at hotels such as the Grand America and Little America, the price of coffees are comparable with better parking and much...

I come here three or four days a week because it is hands down my favorite place for coffee in SLC. The coffee is incredible, the atmosphere is always laid-back, and the baristas are pleasant and quick.
I counted 108 seats in the whole place with 28 outlets. I’m probably off, but honestly if you need electricity, plan on a 50% chance of getting a seat where you can reach one. This also depends on the time of day you come in, of course. From 10:30a–2p, the place is absolutely packed on an average day and especially on weekends. Outside of those times, however, I don’t have trouble getting a seat with outlet access.
The WiFi here is good...until it isn’t. It’s pretty fast and reliable, but probably every third visit or so the WiFi is spotty and mostly unconnected. Almost every time I’m here, there will be about a half-hour stint where the internet simply isn’t available. If your work depends on a constant internet connection, be ready for dropouts because it’s likely to happen. If you’re like me and mostly use the WiFi for emails and homework research/writing, sometimes it’s a good reminder to take a break, stretch your legs, and step outside. Still frustrating, though.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I’ve only come here to use their public (haha) WiFi and seating and have never rented out one of their private meeting rooms, which I understand come with their own WiFi network only for those in that room, which will probably have less traffic and more reliability. I assume the power outlet accessibility is also better in there, but I’m not sure.
Overall, I’d recommend you come here if you’re in Salt Lake and like good coffee. I...
Read moreI made several trips into Salt Lake City between the months of April and September 2022. Publik is a real charming venue. But. The staff is needlessly slow. The coffee really is nothing special. And the jalapeno cheese scone that I had the other day was flat out stale. I've decided that I have given this place enough chances. I'm really disappointed because this place could be amazing. More than half of my visits I experienced really slow ordering and serving times. One time after I got into my car and tasted the coffee I thought what the hell is this? It was plain bad. 20 minutes in line to get a coffee is too much. The line was long because the staff was slow. The barista especially did not seem to be in a hurry, or motivated. Now I will give them this. On a Saturday morning, usually very busy in coffee shops, they were short-staffed, a common problem in retail operations these days. They had one person on the cash register, one barista, and one person making food. I know it's tough, but this was poor planning. On other occasions when I've been to publik coffee roasters I've seen as many as five or six people behind the counter in various functions. There was one other person who came out and bussed the upstairs and downstairs tables. On Saturday 9/24 I waited a good 20 minutes, actually it was nearly half an hour, to order. I waited another 20 minutes to be served my coffee. I'll never go back to this place. I am done. And this business...
