Finding time to rekindle my need for speed, I decided to plug in my old 6-cell battery to my charger and take the old Camaro out for a rip. Unbeknownst to me, Father Time had killed my 6-cell and the charger! Off to Google I went, searching for a hobby shop near me. I found it! Hobby Town, my beacon of hope. I went there in my trusty Accord, embarking on a new adventure to reclaim what had been taken from me.
Phil, the man behind the counter, and a lovely lady began to help search for a new charger and battery. After much searching, the new charger had been found! Such service and friendly banter were provided. The Prophet Sport Mini 50W brought the old 6-cell back from the dead, but alas, the victory was short-lived. Once again, Father Time had struck, and the old battery had only a fraction of its runtime left.
Being the ever-adventurous fellow, I went to the mystical land of Amazon. Full of roughnecks, scallywags, and ne'er-do-wells, I traveled ever so cautiously. Finding what I thought were the correct batteries, I swiftly checked out and waited.
The batteries arrived, but with the wrong connections. Defeat was creeping in, and my mind went back to that time! That time I was helped by the most jovial of people, Phil! Hurriedly, I and my trusty Accord headed back to the land of Hobby Town!
Phil was there! Thank the gods! I approached the counter and was again greeted as a friend. I explained my near defeat in the land of Amazon, and Phil jumped at the opportunity to help right the wrong that had been done.
Finding the correct adapter plug to connect the new battery to my Camaro was an undertaking! We did not resolve the issue in the time I was given by my queen, but I assured Phil that I would be back with the next sunrise to complete this quest!
Today was the day! Again in my trusty Accord, I rode to Hobby Town, knowing that this day we would prevail! Phil had not given up and had been researching all the known tombs to solve this mystery.
Such dedication had paid off! With the adapter in hand, I headed back to my kingdom. While the new batteries charged with life energy, I toiled away at chores left undone.
A happy ending to all! The Camaro came to a new, vigorous life, ripping and tail-spinning, chasing cars and the walkers of beasts. Oh, what...
Read moreMake sure you pay for any special orders upfront. I special ordered a Rokr wood model in-store. I did not pay for it upfront, which was probably my mistake, but since it was only $6 I figured it wasn't a big deal either. I was called twice about the order, once when it arrived and again two days later, and both times I asked if they could hold it for me until the coming Saturday since the store is 20 miles away from my house. I was told both times they would hold it until the coming Saturday, which was 6 days away as of the second phone call. I drove 20 miles out of my way, on the day I said I would be there, just to find out they had sold the model I ordered.
I was never explicity told what the policy on special orders was until after this incident, and even then only after I called back later and asked. I figured they would reshelve the item if I didn't come get it in a reasonable time, which is why I expressly asked if they would hold it until a specific date. I understand they have to move product, I have no problem with stores reshelving orders that aren't picked up in a timely fashion, especially pricey ones. What I don't understand is telling me two different times they'd hold my order, just to sell it anyway. I definitely don't understand not even trying to call me to let me know it was sold so I didn't drive 20 miles out of my way for no reason.
The rest of the store and my experience was nice, though. Staff is friendly and the store is clean. Products are fairly priced (especially the gunpla). I really want this local business to succeed, so I will take my business back there in the future to give them the chance to earn it. I hope in the future I have better experiences with them so I can come and change this review to something...
Read moreJake and Pete are amazing and real problem solvers. I have a XMAXX that was killing gears and sat in the garage for over a year before bring it to them as I could not figure out why. Jake was great at listing to what was going on and asked a lot of questions to get a real grip on the problem at hand. I dropped it off and to my surprise, he even called to reach out to ask further questions after his initial diagnosis was not correct. After about a day or so, he’d come through with a remedy that kind of blew all of our minds and now I am happy to say that I have my X max back up and running and jumping and bashing, like never before. Pete had the new servo in within about 20 minutes which also blew my mind because I couldn’t even get the front half off that truck off after watching a YouTube tutorial of how to be able to do it within an hour. If you’re ever in this hobby town if you just have a simple question looking to get some service work done or wanted to buy a new RC I highly recommend talking to Peter Jake as they will not steer you wrong and make sure that you’re getting exactly what you’re looking for and not only helping you with the sale of your new RC but also the service and parts for it or any accessories after the fact if I could give more than five stars, I would thank you again Jake and Pete for all your help! You’ve earned a customer for...
