San Pedro Spring — Attraction in San Antonio

My family and I visited this pool for the first and last time today . We had such a horrible experience that I left feeling so drained and emotionally exhausted. Upon walking up to the pool to sign in, I remember seeing the sign that said all colors(races) are welcomed along with other positive sayings and it that made me feel so good. Although We were the only African Americans here, we spent hours enjoying ourselves and celebrating my niece birthday! But as we entered into a break, the day took a turn for the worse . We brought food in for the kids and were told that it wasnt allowed ( which we understood and apologized) we noticed that we were singled out , because there were others around us eating chips and other snacks as well .. We ignored it , followed the rules and got back into the pool . As soon as we were sitting in the pool a life guard named Sophia walked up to us and asked us how many kids were with us and were we watching them . (I thought this was odd,we were the only black people in the people so you can clearly see us grouped together)I had three toddlers with me so I stayed sitting in the shallow area of the pool to keep an eye on them . We had several older girls 8 Years old and above who were in the water as well . To be singled out and approached in that matter was so wrong . I sat there and watched the life guard( whos name was Alex) whistle at a young boy who was another race several times, but not once did he send anyone or approach the child or his mother. My sister and I decided to just leave to prevent any other altercation. Before we left the premises we asked to speak to the manager to discuss how we were approached, but we were told that the managers'(Lauren and charles) were doing " paper work" They did not come outside and acknowledge the situation. This pool is awesome for if it's just you or your whole family it's never overly crowded. I've never had to worry about any of my stuff getting stolen. Even if they are short 1 or 2 lifeguards they have plenty for it to be safe. The drawbacks are I wish there was more shaded seating areas and the other point is the only thong you can bring in is water no other drinks and absolutely no food which takes away from the experience of the pool. Oh the one thing I do have to say is the best part is it's absolutely free to get in I just wish the pools in san antonio would open earlier in the year and stay open a little loner through the year so 4 stars the pool area and pool is always clean...

Y'all are judging the park based on its contents. Don't blame the homeless for sleeping there when there is nowhere else to sleep. If you were homeless, wouldn't you want to sleep somewhere beautiful, too?

The trash and lack of maintenance is unfortunate. The disrespect people show this sacred land is very upsetting.

But this is Yanaguana. This land is not theirs, nor is it ours to judge. We can't blame the land for what we have done to it. It's still just as sacred. And y'all are giving it a one-star review on Google?...
