Gallery At Land's End — Attraction in San Diego

Cute little shop that features local artists. It is a great place to buy a gift, or have some custom framing done. They updated the frame on a piece of artwork I had, and now it feels fresh and looks great again. I have purchased handmade gifts there including local prints and ceramics. They also have a nice card assortment, some lovely wood pieces (bowls and cutting boards), handmade jewelery, and locally made chocolate bars. They are in north PB, and out of the usual tourist zone, so it is supported by locals and visitors alike. Making a purchase there means you are supporting a local artist, and not some factory over seas. Nothing there is mass produced, so you should visit often and you'll see that every time you visit you see something different. Look for the ceramic mushrooms, which are perfect to stick in a plant but also durable enough to put outside in a garden. There is a blue usps mailbox across the street, and sometimes they even have stamps at the gallery, so you can send a card off right away before you even return...

So, I had an piece of Otomi embroidery that I'd bought years ago in Mexico and a vintage Mexican frame my parents no longer wanted. I saw that the two pieces somehow fit together but I was at a loss as to how to make it work. My parent's had the good sense to bring my fabric and my frame to Thane at Land's End Gallery and I was absolutely speechless at how stunningly he pressed, stretched and mounted the fabric beneath the acrylic, perfectly seating and balancing the embroidery to the boundaries of the frame. Thane completely elevated the final result to something I NEVER would have been able to imagine or execute on my own. His price was exceedingly reasonable.
