I am thrilled to share with you my experience at Pacific View Inn on May 6-9th. We checked in on May 6, check in was easy. Luis was extremely friendly and attentive. He said my room was ready and that I actually got the last ocean view double room. Keys were handed, we headed upstairs to room 210. The room was NOT what was pictured in the booking. The room in the booking featured not just the two double beds with pretty decorative pillows, but also a couch, a vanity area separate from the bath area, a balcony and a beautiful ocean view. I am attaching a photo for reference but, the room we got was a dingy double Queen with a tiny bathroom and a half window with a tiny view of the ocean. No balcony, no couch/lounging area. No pretty decorative pillows. Don’t be fooled by the beautiful brightly lit rooms in the photos either! The light fixtures inside are poor quality and hardly provide any light. I pushed it to the back of my mind and figured the room was simply bigger in photos as usual and got ready for the evening. The next morning (Friday May 7 about 9am) I go downstairs to the front desk to ask for an iron, as there was NOT one in the room, and as I walk in, the girl at the front desk with curly/frizzy hair, black rings and hair a strange yellow hue completely ignores me. It takes her about 1 minute from the moment I entered for her to acknowledge me standing in front of her. She looked completely bothered by the fact that I was there. I asked for an iron and she said she would bring it back to my room. I get a call from her 25 minutes later. Our conversation goes exactly like this, word for word: she says “hi, my name is __ calling from Pacific View Inn. I just wanted to let you know that regarding the iron you requested, they’re all being used right now and I have none left.So I just wanted you to know that” I’m super confused like what in the world does she mean she doesn’t have an iron?? Lol. I said “ok... so can I get one as soon as it gets returned, or can you go get one from someone who’s done using it or how does it work?” She says “well if I remembered which rooms have one i would but I don’t. Sorry about that” at this point I’m super confused. This hotel listed an Iron as one of the amenities, and I had luggage full of wrinkled dresses. I was NOT happy. I said, “this hotel lists an iron on their website, in fact I was expecting one to be in the room and there isn’t. I really need that iron.” She says, “COOLBEANS. Thanks.” And hangs up!!!!!! I am not making this up.
After this encounter with this crazy front desk lady, I was fuming. I have NEVER been treated with so much attitude, rudeness and indifference in my life. This is the part where I go on the website to make sure I’m not crazy, and the hotel does list amenities that were not made available. I then run into the photos of the room I booked and finally realize that my room is nothing like what they advertise. I was in PB to celebrate my birthday, not to get Into an argument and have to fight to get the amenities that I PAID FOR. I decide to take the high road and not go into that office and curse out the chick with the strange yellow hair and everyone else that runs this place. As a side note: the following day I went back downstairs and asked for a hairdryer. Luis was there. He said they didn’t have any and to come back in 15 minutes so they could run out and buy one. SMH. We left early for the airport on Sunday morning 5/9 at about 6am & we left in a rush and I left a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses and Tory Burch sandals. I sent an email asking if we could arrange for them to ship them to me (I was willing to pay for shipping). Two days later I finally get an answer from Luis: housekeeping didn’t find these items in the room (they vanished??). All in all, you won’t get the room you paid for; there’s also no hair dryer, iron, microwave, or phone in the room. Shady management & super rude staff. Stay away unless you want to be greatly...
Read moreI'm not one to leave bad reviews but I highly suggest you don't stay here. I didn't find the need to complain to the front desk staff because clearly they don't get paid enough to care much for my opinion. It started out exciting actually, and took a turn pretty quickly. I was on a work trip from LA and on my way over I noticed via text I was "Guest of the Day". I've never gotten any sort of special treatment at hotel stays so I was feeling pretty special. I had left a memo via booking that if it were possible to check in early that would be great. I received an additional email saying that I had good news and that I could check in a bit early. So I call on my way in, express my excitement and ask how early I can check in..the sales associate went back and forth with confusion and said 2pm but that I would have to pay a $15 dollar fee. I brushed it off and was like it's fine, i'm the "guest of the day" i'm sure theres some sort of sweet accommodation waiting for me. I arrive and to my dismay there is no parking-- I ask the front desk if my room is ready and the sales associate said it wasn't ready and that it will now be ready around 2:30pm -- alright no rush, no problem. I asked what the perks of being "Guest of Day" entailed and she said "we put snacks in your room". Cool, I love snacks. Since it's now at 2:30, do I still have to pay? No she said. Dope-- parking? You have to find street parking. You also have to reserve ahead of time for parking (I found out later they only have 4 spots total). I was trying to understand why things were the way they were and one of the girls kind of snapped at me and said theres 26 rooms and limited staff to clean. Dope lady, I wasn't trying to complain...which I said. Look, I totally get it-- I've been in the customer service industry, I still am...you don't get paid enough to care and you're probably treated pretty poorly over things you can't control...but have some empathy for people who are kind to you. I did not snap or complain or fuss-- It was all just a bit comical. What is this spirit airlines? I have to pay for everything extra? Also, what do I get for being guest of the day? A bag of lays chips and an aquafina water bottle. Do better..there couldv'e been free parking or a coffee on us, or an early check in...THAT makes sense. I get to my room and it is DOWSED in lysol - the smell was so bad I was just inhaling fumes the whole stay. Now I felt like I couldn't say anything because what would they do anyway? It really sucked. They close at 10pm and there is no security whatsoever. There was a creepy guy lingering IN FRONT OF MY DOOR for 2 hours yelling into his cell phone in a different language and it freaked me the hell out. At LEAST, they should have some sort of security. It was all just very terrible and it wasn't enjoyable whatsoever. I'm really looking forward to the "Thank you for your feedback." response I'll get to this post. Again-- this is in no way shape or form targetting the staff -- but the owner should know and if he/she cares enough would make some changes to better their business. Thanks for coming to...
Read moreSo sad to be writing this. This was our 7th stay at Pacific View Inn... it has been a little home away from home. This trip was not the same. (New owners and management) We booked the "king ocean view" not the "king partial ocean view" paid an extra $50 per night. There was no ocean view and the girl who checked us in claimed they can't guarantee room type and the couple who checked in before us got the last ocean view room. The manager who had no customer service in her at all said if you want an ocean view you have to book "ocean front view king". Like I said. 7th stay. Never been a problem til now.
Next is the parking. We paid for 2 nights of parking. $60. When we checked in there looked to be no parking left, the girl checking us in proved me wrong as she walked out and showed us where to park, there was a faint line as if it was parking, but it slightly over lapped a fire lane. She assured us it was the spot reserved for us. We got a $77 parking ticket from the city and again the manager said, that's not a parking spot so there is nothing we can do and said that she would have to get the "full, true story from the girl who checked us in."
It may have been different if they were kind, understanding and non combative but every time something went wrong we were told it was our fault and to handle it. All 3 girls we dealt with were rude, short and non helpful. Especially the manager. We originally approached every new situation with a smile hoping to be met with understanding but every time were met with combative, hostile customer service which lead to us becoming aggravated. I actually didn't see a single smile out of all 3 girls such a bummer cause the spot it so absolutely beautiful. We did come into contact with issues with the bathroom door as well, it did not open or close properly. We will be looking for our new hotel away from home on...
