The beach town vibe is strong in Pacific Beach, or PB as the locals call it. This is a boutique hotel and we were looking for a change from the large corporate feel of the Marriot/Hilton/Hyatt while maintaining the quality of service. The Pacific Terrace Hotel delivered. I checked out pictures and location in advance, and came with the right expectation and the hotel met and exceeded across the board. The property is not big, but they have done a great job with this location. The rooms are very spacious for the price. We stayed in the St Lucia suite which had a separate dining and living area and really enjoyed the space. I could see where your experience could vary if you don't have a room with a view and glad we opted for this. The decor had a fun polynesian vibe and lighting all around the room made it easy to adjust light that we needed for time of day along with the blinds and balcony facing the water. The sunset views from this hotel are fantastic, especially from the pool and jacuzzi area which is well designed. Overall great value for the price. The TV took me a few minutes to get the chromecast working but that worked out. The bedding and room were comfortable all around, clean, great bathroom, shower, separate door for toilet area with vent.. overall well designed and nice decor. The blinds worked well for adjusting lightning and the heating and cooling options were nicely balanced with both a ceiling fan, large balcony doors with ocean breeze and AC/heating controls with a strong blower. The bathtub also has working jets, a bit old but functioned great. Although the property is smaller, I was surprised at how well staffed it is and the level of professionalism and service from the staff was on par with any high end hotel we have stayed at. Roles were well defined, cross-trained efficiently, and well executed across specializations - valet, concierge, wait staff, bartending, etc. They helped us get san diego zoo tickets, were expedient with the vehicle and luggage and also with room service which was a delicious beachy menu. This hotel is well managed and the level of service and communication from all of the staff was fantastic. Warm cookies after 4 were a great touch, so was the hotel gift shop! We also participated in a gingerbread contest between the staff and it's little details like these which add up. My favorite time from our stay here was probably lounging at the pool area around sunset with a gorgeous view. The area is decorated with palm trees and personal table firepits to warm you on a cool evening overlooking the pacific sunset with an ocean breeze. We were well attended to in the clean and beautiful pool area from bartending and service staff and it made for a great evening. Definitely would stay again in the future. Thank you Pacific Terrace for working hard to provide a great winter...
Read moreI am dying to give this place 5 stars, but unable to due to the food. Let me explain: From the very start, the staff was excellent. My initial communication for my stay was excellent. They assisted me and answered all my questions promptly and professionally. Upon arrival at 12 pm, I was greeted by the desk. Excellent interaction, but was a bit disappointed I had to wait 4 hours to check in..cannot really complain cause that is their policy. I figured they would give me a spare room to change, but that was a no go. The staff always wears their masks for all you paranoid guests…they were all spot on. Staff was very polite and always willing to help. Rooms were turned over daily, the service regarding towels, toiletries, cleanliness was 5 star. The hotel lobby and rooms were well kept, nicely appointed and clean. Beds were very comfortable. I think the showers may need updating soon, but overall wonderful. Laundry service available, parking for 28/dollars a day was a lot of money in my opinion so I suggest you park on the street close by. Spots were available. The hotel itself was in a great location, close to everything. Restaurants are plentiful, a nice boardwalk to walk or jog. From point to point it’s about 3 miles long. I find people in San Diego not as friendly as I expected, but that’s ok. People are into themselves from what I observed. All good, it is what it is. Food was a rip off. From what you pay, you get very small potions. I looked around and observed. I decided to get breakfast. I ordered oatmeal. Got a tiny dish that cost me 10/bucks. Waste of money..probable cost them 10 cents if that much. You cannot even get more, cause it will cost you another 10/dollars. Coffee was in a small cup, not enough sugar available, had to ask for cream. Staff was nice, but go somewhere else to eat. I will take away a full star for this. Pool was clean, in a great location on the boardwalk. Staff always cleaning. View from my ocean view room was spectacular and you will pay a premium for that view. Pricing was good, but I wanted to book in July and was quoted 750/dollars per night. This hotel is not worth that price. I have stayed in hotels costing that much and were a whole lot better. Overall, I would absolutely stay here and recommend it to anyone looking to visit. Just stay away from the food. Hope...
Read moreThis hotel was fantastic! They truly handled all the Covid-19 restrictions great. Even though it would've been nice to have had bottled water in the room and some of the normal amenities that were closed due to covid (hot tub, housekeeping, etc...) it was still a wonderful experience. This felt more like a resort than a hotel. The staff was so friendly and very accommodating. Every special request was honored with no hassle. Everything in hotel and on the grounds was cleaned immaculately. The room was simply perfect. We had the Coastal Suite which had 2 queen beds and a pull out couch with partial view. It was beautiful, big, clean, and the bathroom was huge and had a jacuzzi tub. The decor was classy and the beds were the most comfortable I have ever slept on. All the pillows were like clouds and the cute elephant made out of the towels sitting on the bed was a nice touch. Plenty of charging stations available throughout room. Nice living area with chair, tables, couch that pulls out and a huge TV. Kitchen area has dinette table and chairs, mini fridge, mini bar, microwave, sink, keurig coffee maker, and wine rack. We had a big balcony with outdoor furniture and a decent partial view of the ocean and because we stayed on the south side we could view the pier as well. If you don't need a suite get a full view room. One of the nicest amenities is the free use of bikes, beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, and beach toys. The pool is not huge but nice and plenty of lounge chairs, umbrellas, and they also have cabanas which great. They also have fire pits and eating areas outside the pool. Palm trees everywhere so you feel like your in paradise. There's poolside bar and snack service as well. Drinks were reasonable and really good and don't miss out on the 2 for 1 happy hour between 4-5. Overall experience was a 10 out of 10 and I would stay here again in a heartbeat. We recommended this place to some friends and now they're staying there for fall break. Don't get me wrong the prices are not cheap but you actually get what you pay for. Beautiful hotel, steps from the beach, and walking distance to everything you could want. Thanks Pacific Terrace...
