Hotel Republic didn’t have to wine and dine us this hard!🍷✨ We took a quick trip to San Diego and Hotel Republic seriously rolled out the red carpet for Ace + Mazie 🐶 From plush dog beds 🛏️ to bowls 🍽️ to name tags 🏷️ and even squeaky toys 🧸… they made sure the pups felt right at home (and then some!) 🐾 It’s all part of their Tail Wagging Getaway package 🎁 so if you’re visiting San Diego with your dogs, definitely check it out! 🐕🏝️ We had dinner at their super cute rooftop restaurant & bar Topside Terrace 🌇🍽️—dog-friendly too of course! The pups got their own water bowl while we enjoyed dinner and city views. It was just all the vibes ✨ I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again—San Diego might just be the most dog-friendly city in the US 🐾💛 Everyone was even more excited to meet A+M than the pups themselves—and that’s saying A LOT 😂 It just makes me so happy 🥹 So if you’re heading there, don’t leave your pups behind! ☀️🐕❤️ #dogsoftiktok #travelwithdogs #dogfriendly #dogfriendlyhotel #sandiego #dogfriendlysandiego #dogfriendlytravel #travelwithdogs #sandiegohotel

SAN DIEGO MINI GUIDE! It really is one of California’s most vibrant and laid back cities, a mecca of beautiful Pacific beaches, cute cafes, gorgeous parks, amazing restaurants and year-round stellar weather. Sharing all of my favorites below! Have you been to San Diego? @visitsandiego #visitsd #ad PLACES TO VISIT BALBOA PARK Balboa Park is the beating heart of San Diego, and my favorite spot in the city. There’s a little bit of everything here – spectacular parks, museums and cultural sights. My personal favorites are Casa del Prado, the Lily Pond, Alcazar Garden and the Japanese Friendship Garden. CABRILLO NATIONAL MONUMENT The southern tip of the Point Loma Peninsula is where you’ll find the Old Point Loma Lighthouse, beautiful tidepools and spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. HARPER’S TOPIARY GARDEN Inspired garden on a hill that feels a bit like Europe with green shrubs trimmed into life-sized figurines. This is actually someone’s front yard – it’s beautiful! LA JOLLA COVE On a warm day, the calm waters of La Jolla Cove sparkle the perfect shades of turquoise. Gorgeous place to spend the day – keep an eye out for the sea Lions! OLD TOWN SAN DIEGO This vibrant neighborhood is a lovely spot to spend an afternoon, home to boutiques, restaurants, colorful flags and historic 19th century buildings. PARK PRESIDIO Park Presidio sits perched on a hilltop that overlooks Old Town San Diego. It’s home to the beautiful Junipero Serra Museum that resembles an old Spanish-style mission. SPRUCE STREET SUSPENSION BRIDGE A fun suspension bridge that sits tucked away in Bakers Hill. The bridge dates back to 1912, and crosses over Sessions Canyon. TORREY PINES STATE NATURAL RESERVE Great hiking options wind through the cliffs above Torrey Pines State Beach. The otherworldly sandstone canyons are particularly incredible. CAFES & RESTAURANTS Born & Raised, Craft & Commerce, Holy Matcha, Holy Paleta, Huntress, Ironside Fish & Oyster, Kingfisher, Morning Glory, Oscars Mexican Seafood, Seneca Trattoria, S3 Coffee, Wayfarer Bread & Pastry HOTELS Carte Hotel, Hotel Republic, The Pendry #sandiego #california #balboapark

Stay with caution! Your car will be broken into in their valet lot and they won’t take any responsibility for it!

Honestly the most underwhelming and infuriating stay my husband and I have ever had. We were excited for our stay and we are frequent members or Marriot, but wow this stay was the worst we’ve ever had. The ladies at the front desk were nice and the room was fairly decent, but the problem lies with valet and their accountability.

We dropped our car off at valet and we’re excited for our stay, everything seems normal but as we get our car back the next day, it’s apparent our car was broken into and had items stolen out of it. They parked our car in an off location lot, which was not mentioned to us, and clearly did not lock are car in there “protected and secure lot”. The glove box was open, center console, trash and ransacked. The guy gives our car back and acts like everything is normal… We had close to $700 worth of tools stolen.

How they “managed” this problem was ATROCIOUS! The manager let this poor kid try to facilitate our cars break in and we had to file a claim. As we try to do that, they don’t have any papers to document the claim and we have to wait 20 mins for them to print them off, then a valet manager comes over and says another manager from another location is coming to help us. Another 20 mins go by and we are just waiting on the street with our car. Finally I have to go in and talk to the front desk to tell them I absolutely refuse to pay for valet parking to have our car be broken into.. as this happened this young lady (not the manager we were promised) from ace parking comes over and we have to fill out a form with her. She says call this number and they will help you. We now have been there dealing with this situation for almost an hour. As we leave so infuriated with the whole situation that we agree to follow up with this number given, even though that should be their responsibility. You took the car, you took liability when you accepted those keys. But then here is when it gets really great. The lady who gave us a claim paper after we left, calls us to come back to take pictures of the outside of the car. The inside was broken into not the outside. So disorganized!

Now the absolute best, I have to call the manager that was promised to show up and never did. She says “oh how funny I just saw your claim on my desk” mind you it’s been a couple days now since the claim was submitted to her. She was WELL aware of the situation, and I know that because I heard her on the phone with the valet boys when we filed our claim, but she acted VERY brand new to the whole situation. She claims she is “launching an investigation” to make sure the logs of her employees are right and check the cameras to make sure our car is locked. Well she gets back to us days later to tell us they are not responsible and all their logs and everything look fine. WHAT DO YOU MEAN? It was apparent someone broke into our car and stole property under YOUR watch and protection. YOU are liable AND accountable. She was the most rude and unprofessional person I have ever met. She told us to file a police claim, which isn’t going to do anything if you’re withholding information and lying to us that everything was perfect on your end. CLEARLY you took the car, left it unlocked or as to HOW could someone break in without breaking a window…. You left the doors unlocked and won’t take any responsibility. We got no consolation, no “I’m so sorry for what happened” no fixing of the problem. We now are out over $700 because of your negligence. We parked with valet to insure our car would be safe, if I wanted to risk it I would have happily parked in the public lot across the street from the hotel. Honestly if we did, we probably wouldn’t of had our car broken into because we would have locked our door unlike your employees. Y’all really need to get organized, and maybe have some classes on customer service and how to deal with crises management. Worst...

Cons: Parking is expensive since this is downtown, no microwave in the room Pros: Location, Friendly Service, Mini Fridge, Rooms are comfortable and have everything you need

I should begin with some transparency. I was not in a good mood when we arrived at the hotel on Friday night. We had driven three hours with five kids in the car, dropped them off at the grandparents, and then drove another two hours to the hotel as we were attending a Saturday wedding. I didn't realize that there was no free parking at the hotel or anywhere nearby. Valet is $52 (which I later realized was more affordable than other hotels in the area) and public parking ranged from $25-$35 a night. When we checked in there was a couple people in front of us and we were immediately greeted by Jeff. He was incredibly friendly and offered us a lavender something mojito. This was a surprise and very much appreciated! I overheard the woman at the front desk apologizing as the room for the guest was under another name and he would have to wait for that person to check in before getting a key to the room. Needless to say he was irritated and this was not her fault in anyway. When it was our turn to check in, Rue was positive and also quite friendly. She could have been upset about the guest before us, but she wasn't. She smiled, welcomed us, and asked us how we were doing. I shouldn't have as it wasn't her fault, but I took this opportunity to complain about the parking situation and it being so expensive. She apologized and then continued to talk to us about our trip. We told her we were there for a wedding and our five kids were with the grandparents. She was still so kind to us! She saw that our room was right above a wedding and she changed it so that we could get some rest after a long trip. She gave us two water bottles and let us know if there was anything we needed to let her know. Wow! She went above and beyond and honestly, I didn't deserve it after being upset with the parking. This really set the tone for the rest of the trip and she put us in a great mood. Anytime we were coming and going, Jeff was there to greet us and ask if we needed anything. Both Rue and Jeff are phenomenal!!!! I really can't express this enough.

The hotel was great and had everything we needed. There was a restaurant and bar downstairs. I think there is one upstairs on the roof too, but we never went to it. The hotel was decorated very nicely. Our room was awesome. The bed was quite comfortable and the pillows were exactly what we needed. There were four large pillows that had a good amount of firmness to them. I loved the little seating area by the window as well. In the restroom, the shower had three refillable bottles of conditioner, shampoo, and shower gel. We were staying for two nights and had plenty of what we needed. I have very long hair and the small disposables bottles provided from most hotels aren't enough for even one wash for one person. This was such a pleasant surprise! I also really appreciated the vanity mirror with light, the makeup remover wipes, lotion, cotton rounds, qtips, hand sanitizer wipes, and everything else that we didn't realize we needed.

When we return, we are definitely staying here again. We had an amazing stay and slept so well. I loved that everything we needed was in walking distance and Jeff was very helpful in letting us know what was nearby/recommendations. We walked and also had fun...

𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐭𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞

Review: Hotel Republic San Diego, Autograph Collection - San Diego

For years Marriott has been my go-to hotel chain. Having traveled to over 67 countries and 26 states, I have had the opportunity to stay in Marriott Hotels around the world. There has always been a level of standard and experience consistent with the brand. However, this hotel fell short of that experience.

We arrived at the hotel on a Thursday night around 7:30pm. We had no issues checking. Normally if the hotel doesn't have water in the room, they will offer water when you check in. She did not. She did tell us we got a great room in a very quiet part of the hotel.

When we got to the room, it was HOT. They left the air off and the room was 78 degrees, while outside it was 51 degrees.

When I looked around there was no water in the fridge or the room. We started to unpack when I noticed something odd. The ice bucket and glasses were under the nightstand, which is funny because they fit right next to the coffee pot.

Of course, after a day of travel, it was time for a shower. They had shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel in the shower dispensers. I went to get body wash and the dispenser was broken. It didn't pump correctly so I was having trouble getting any out. I had to disassemble the dispenser including removing the top so I could use the body wash. There was this easy access hole in the shower to hang your towel. At first, I thought it was a clever design. Then I changed my mind because, at the end of the shower, my towel was soaked. After all, the hole was right next to the shower head.

Then there were the plugs. In today's world plugs are pretty important. They had 6 USB plugs that were broken. The two plugs in the nightstands didn't have enough voltage, I noticed the next morning my devices didn't charge, and the plug near the phone wasn't working at all. I had to rotate my devices with my partners to get our devices charged.

The next morning at 6am we were woken up by a huge construction crane. I guess it wasn't necessarily the quiet side.

I went to go get coffee. I got in the elevator and the sign said Floor 1 was the registration and the restaurant. It also listed floors 2 and 3. When I looked down there was no floor 1. I assumed it was G however most hotels G is a garage or below Floor 1. I did ask others on the elevator and they also said it was. One time on the elevator a couple went to Floor 2 to leave and had to get back on the elevator when they realized it was the wrong floor.

When I got to the specialty coffee bar, I looked at the menu with hopes of getting a Mocha Coffee. However, the menu had a lot of coffee, but not Mocha. I asked the guy where the nearest Starbucks was, and he asked why. I told him it was because I prefer mocha coffee in the morning. He told me they have mocha coffee on the menu. I looked again and then asked him to show me. He looked at menu and , “that is so strange, we always have served mocha coffee but it’s not listed.

My stay for two nights was $752 including parking. For this price, this was a very disappointing experience. It may be time for me to consider other...
