We have been members of Downtown Works since 2020 and absolutely love it!
Prior to joining, we spent a month researching and visiting coworking spaces all around San Diego, but upon visiting DWs and meeting Candace Vanderbilt (Little Italy's Community Manager), we knew that we had found our new home.
What's not to love? Candace is an incredible human being, who always goes above and beyond to make sure that everyone is taken care of, and feels welcome and part of the community. Honestly, that's reason #1 that we were sold on Downtown Works, and the reason we still love it as much as we do today. A beautiful and well taken care of space, with amazing views, lots of amenities, and a perfect mix of private and shared working areas. A very response team, who has invested heavily in DWs, and is always looking for ways to further improve things - whether it is implementing Apple Business Chat; putting together and sending out newsletters packed with discounts, information on the community, upcoming events in San Diego; trying out new locally roasted coffee; or adding tons of high-end air purifiers to keep everyone safe right as the pandemic was starting to unfold. A fully-staffed reception desk Fast Cisco Meraki-managed internet, with dedicated ethernet for each desk, and strong shared Wi-Fi A roof deck, and several balconies for stepping out and getting fresh air Proximity to Little Italy and all sorts of cafes, restaurants, shopping and public transportation Ability to make use of Downtown Works other facilities in Carlsbad and Pacific Beach A great community of nice, interesting people who are always happy to say hi and chat over a snack break...
Read moreI was losing my mind working from home, so I finally looked at these options downtown.
I've used shared office spaces/incubators before in Silicon Valley, and this is a great one. It has that startup/incubator feel that I like--modern, friendly, open. The space is very airy with several different office options. I chose the Open Desk plan, because I don't know where I'd like to sit and am enjoying the ability to float around. The vast majority seem to use offices and dedicated desks, so they can personalize, use extra equipment (e.g., dual monitors and Polycoms), and store items. There are also small lockers for rent. They have other conveniences, as listed on their website, that I'll likely use occasionally.
Also key are the facilities and perks: nice rooftop and balcony work options, several interior work options spread across 3 floors, plenty of phone booths, free printing!, free good coffee (Ryan Bros and Moto), free good beer (Mexican craft lager), and free and paid snacks. I haven't witnessed the social events yet (thanks, Covid), but the open location should work well for them. The manager said they hosted about 3 events/week per-Covid, so that should break the week up nicely. Speaking of Covid, they have good protocols with a nice blend of responsible safety without onerous restrictions.
It's also located close to many food options and public transit, which are key for a downtown location. Plus there's some parking, although I don't use it or know how it works. And the staff are super-friendly and responsive, which is always...
Read moreI’ve been using this coworking spot after checking out several others in San Diego and can easily say it’s my favorite.
First and foremost, the location is great and central in San Diego, which makes it accessible to most residents. There are several parking lots nearby, and if those come off pricey, you can park in the Bankers Hill neighborhood for free and walk about 20 minutes down which is a nice stroll through Little Italy.
The coworking spot is ideal as its an open floor plan and has several phone booths to utilize for privacy and to not disturb others - really great for all professionals, especially those in sales like myself who have several meetings a day.
They have snacks and coffee available and often have events they promote within the community.
For someone who travels quite a bit for work and is fully remote, i find this space great and consistent. It's very clean and comfortable. It feels like the regulars have become my coworkers and some of the employees, such as Haley and Elena, always greet me warmly. They have helped me out on several occasions when ive been short office supplies or even a cable to connect laptop to their monitors, and have also provided some great food recs around town. They both make all the regulars and one-timers feel welcome....
