Edit: I have been cordially and respectfully trying to get in contact with the business for days to simply get the names of the massage therapists and it seems they are ignoring me. I am the type of consumer who gives business owners second chances and the benefit of the doubt, and I was really hoping to update this review on a more positive note with the way they handled the aftermath of the situation, but unfortunately that is not the case. Because Emerald Massage seems to be ignoring me, I feel as I have no choice but to contact the California Massage Therapy Council, California Department of Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau to report my experience with this business.
After posting my review, they tried offering us a partial refund to remove our review. We were considering taking it but we really want others to see the reality of this institution. As we were messaging, they also lied about getting consent from my wife for the male therapist to massage her and somehow tried to make it as if it was our fault. We are reasonable people and hardly leave reviews but this experience has just been so terrible and somehow got worse after leaving a review. After declining the refund, they told us that they will be reporting our conversation to Yelp and Google, I’m not sure if that was supposed to be a threat? It seems like the reason they have a near perfect rating is because they offer partial refunds to remove reviews.
We went here for a couples massage because of the near perfect 5 star reviews on yelp, and we’re kind of confused how they got such good ratings. Firstly, they are situated in a corporate office building. The massage literally took place in what seemed to be a rented office space. It was extremely odd and kinda had weird vibes. That was our first red flag. We should’ve left at that point, but against our better judgement we decided to trust the process. Secondly, there was a male and female tech. They did not ask us who we each prefer and automatically gave my wife the male tech??? We did not even realize who was working on us until we turned around for the second half of the massage. She was incredibly uncomfortable once she realized a man was giving her a massage. Onto the massage itself, it was painful. Not relaxing at all. They were using their elbows and knuckles and it just felt like we were being elbowed and pinched. They kept going over the same spots to the point to it feeling sore and painful. At one point my wife said he was basically elbowing up and down her spine and kept applying pressure and it was painful. The woman working on me started walking on me without letting me know. We’ve been to many couples massages and paid many different prices, and to say the least this massage was not worth the price at all. I wouldn’t even come back if it was free. They seem like nice people and tipped them for their time, but the massage was just not good at all. 1 star for them being nice/ having good service. Please save your money and go literally...
Read moreI was in San Diego on business Two weeks ago and I had a couple hours free so I went to my favorite massage parlor in SD. I have been here a least 10 times and I have never been disappointed in the massage services here. Bing runs a very CLEAN and PROFESSIONAL Massage Business. Her massage techniques are by far the best in SD. Usually I have a massage from Bing but the last 3 times I have visited she has been busy so I received a massage from her worker Jenny. All 3 times the massage has been wonderful. I have many problems with my neck, lower back as well as both knees. I did not have to explain this to Jenny... her fingers and elbows magically found all my injuries and worked out all the tension in these areas. Jenny paid close attention to my right knee as it is by far the worst injury. I have constant pain but every time I have had a massage from Jenny the pain is greatly reduced for weeks. She also paid close attention to my neck it is always tight with many knots and she totally relieved the pain and the knots are gone for weeks. If you are in the San Diego area.... I highly recommend that you drop by Two World Chinese Massage Therapy... and ask For JENNY you will not be disappointed in the service you receive and your body will be totally renewed and ready to take on your...
Read moreI was briefly in town for a work event and was able to schedule a 90 minute massage with Annie. The scheduling process was easy, it’s all done online - you can ever pay for the service online. The whole process was very efficient! The location of her studio is in an office building attached to the Westin. Some people in previous reviews had negative things to say about the location. I disagree with their statements. The entire building is very clean and well lit. There is an admin desk when you walk in, they are very helpful. I had no problems finding the location, and they even text you with clear instructions before hand. As someone who regularly gets treatments from independent massage therapists, the entire process was completely normal and easy to navigate.
When I met Annie, she kindly introduced herself and took me back to her studio It was very quiet and calming in there :) overall, she did an amazing job! She listens to your preferences and has no problem adjusting her technique to accommodate.
I will definitely be back the next time...
