I recently visited Mellows Massage, and unfortunately, it was literally the worst massage I’ve ever experienced. I left the appointment feeling frustrated, tense, and as though I had wasted my time and money.

The massage therapist seemed to lack any professional training or understanding of basic massage techniques. Her approach was incredibly sporadic and disorganized, with no sense of flow or purpose. It felt like she was just randomly applying pressure to different areas with no rhyme or reason. To make matters worse, I specifically requested focus on my neck and upper back, as those are areas where I hold the most tension. Despite this, she completely avoided them during the session, which was both baffling and disappointing.

Afterward, the business reached out to ask for feedback and offered me the option to book with a different therapist. While I appreciated the gesture, I was traveling for work and couldn’t take advantage of the offer. They offered no alternatives. That said, it’s disappointing that the service didn’t meet even the most basic expectations on my first visit.

Overall, this was a thoroughly unpleasant experience, and I would not recommend Mellows Massage to anyone based on what I encountered. It’s clear that they need to reevaluate the training and professionalism of their staff if they want to provide a service that’s...

*updated post: This place is just like all the other membership places. They say they are different yet they aren’t. I left town as my mother was hospitalized and I had to move her to hospice. Even during this stress I called days before my appt explained the issue and rescheduled. They charged me for my appt even though I was with my dying mother. I wasn’t aware of this until I saw my statement. It finally has all worked out. Got my money and don’t be returning. No one should have to fight for the right thing while grieving.

Also on my last appt they switched my therapist without letting me know. I didn’t get my cupping (guy forgot) and the massage wasn’t good. I miss Joshua and wish I knew where he went.

Anyway such a bummer. Now to find a new place.

I came across Mellow Massage while visiting San Diego. Booking online was easy. I was able to schedule a deep tissue massage for the same day. I went into the Downtown location and enjoyed their modern, minimalist design with polished concrete floors. It reminded me of an art gallery. My massage room was similarly designed, but warm and comfortable. Everything was immaculately clean. My masseur, Omar, greeted me warmly, asked what areas of concern I had, and then proceeded to provide me with one of the best massages I've ever had. Great pressure during the massage. Omar was very detailed working on my body. He knows his anatomy and I was aware of him addressing my problem areas as well as all the major muscle groups, even targeting the deeper layers in turn. His choice use of trigger point therapy provided immediate release of tension from key muscles that we use all the time, like the forearm muscles and my biceps. After the massage, I had a deep sense of calm but also energized. If I lived in San Diego, I would sign up for their membership. I will definitely book another session with them the next time...
