My new favorite coffee shop!! For a while I had been in search of a good red velvet coffee, and when I discovered this place in downtown/by the courthouse, I just had to try it. The iced red velvet mocha here is what I’ve been searching for. Not too sweet, flavorful, and sooooo good!! I paired it with an orange chocolate chip muffin, and I was in heaven. I’ve also tried the iced dark chocolate mocha, which was okay (wasn’t too strong or sweet), and the iced Vietnamese coffee, which was SOOOO GOOD I highly recommend!! This place also has lots of cute and pretty desserts!! I think it would be a great place to come with friends, for coffee dates with desserts. I also love how the baristas here are very nice, and provide quick service with quality food. I’m looking forward to trying more things on the menu :)

I visited this place while I was in the Downtown area. I ordered their Veggie Sandwich. I received my order in a few minutes. The sandwich had avocado, cucumber, lettuce, tomato, hummus, and sesame bagel. The sandwich was okay. For some reason, the sandwich didn't appeal to me(may be it was the bagel). What impressed me was the service during my visit. Their staff was energetic and quick during checkout and while delivering the order. The ambiance inside the coffee shop felt cozy. If you prefer to get warm under the sun, there are tables on the patio. Their menu has vegetarian options, which makes this restaurant vegetarian-friendly. They also have a variety of desserts and pastries on their menu. The ones on display looked delicious! The drawing of the owls to depict the varieties of coffee made me laugh!

While in San Diego last weekend, I had the absolute pleasure of coming across this coffee shop. Alex, who works there was SO kind and funny (even right after another customer walked into the back room uninvited). I switched to tea years ago and asked about chai, to find out they not only make 2 kinds in-house, but also make their own vanilla and almond milk! It was the best chai I had out of 3 in the city, with just the right amt of sweetness from the vanilla. My friend really liked her vanilla iced coffee too! I only wished I lived closer to get it all the time. Def worth the cost for the quality and service :) They also had some cool looking desserts, including something that looked like a giant Ferrero rocher that I wish I had the time to try.

I visited Skybound Coffee three days in a row while visiting San Diego on a business trip. Had I only gone the first two days and reviewed the shop at that point, they would have received a 5-star rating. The gentleman working the first two mornings was friendly, and extremely accommodating. He hustled while he worked the stead stream of customers. The food was consistent each morning. The coffee was very good, sourced locally I learned, and made to order, extra hot with either the house made (no added sugar) almond milk and oat milk; I tried both. I enjoyed the chimichurri avocado toast without egg, sauce on the side - it’s quite strong. The toast was nice quality grain bread and toasted to a crisp (in a good way). Skip to the third day when I had the unfortunate experience and last impression of Skybound Coffee marred by the girl working that morning. When I first arrived she may have been on a personal call on speaker phone, the person remained on speaker at least for a while. More importantly, and relevant to the service: she lacked the empathy and cheer the man had. The coffee drink she prepared was fine. The toast however was warmed at best, I asked her to toast it longer. While it wasn’t the same experience, I could have been satisfied, until the moment when I discovered there must have been turmeric on something she gave me that ended up on an off white sweatshirt I was wearing for the first time. She said it was likely in the chimichurri sauce. But why was there turmeric powder on my sweatshirt? I did’t spill the sauce. When I asked for something to clean it with is when I really noticed her uncaring. I brought it to her attention: she laughed. I recommend the coffee and the food, but if you go, expect that the service may be slow and definitely...

I love coffee and dessert. I have been here twice before and both times my chocolate fantasy dessert did not hold up on the drive home as I took them with me. Went back yesterday and got coffee on the first trip. Made an arrangement with the nice man at the table doing paperwork that I could pay for my future purchases once as we were going to be out about and I wanted a chocolate fantasty before closing time. Well on my third trip of the day I went to pick it up and the young lady who helped me said that I must be the crazy lady she was told about. I was like what now I am crazy. She said that was what she was told. She had my receipt, made my coffee and tried to send me off with no dessert. I asked where was my chocolate fantasy. She was under the assumption that I received it earlier. She got me my dessert and told me I didn't seem crazy. Do not get me wrong she was lovely the way we talked. My issue is why would the young lady earlier be SO NASTY and say something like that. It doesn't make sense why someone would act that way over a customer who just asked for a dessert to be held for a few hours.

I was so upset I refused my dessert and will not be spending anymore money there ever.

And by the way, I still never got a chance to try the Chocolate fantasy. And now I guess I...

A blink and you'll miss it place if you're not a local and get it confused with the coffee shop right next door to it. If you're able to find it, (it's the cafe right on the corner), you'll want to go inside and order something to eat and drink.

At peak times there's a wait but the food is well worth it. Service at times can be spotty on friendliness and different than the SoCal, happy personalities and put you more in mind of Bostonians but don't let that stop you, the food is worth it. Lots of breakfast options to eat and good drinks to drink whether you want café, fresh orange juice, or a smoothie. No pressed juices here but don't let that stop you. The deserts are adorable but with "dessert" in the name of the business you'd expect there to be much more than they actually have. The display case doesn't make them look of great quality but they're actually some of the best desserts I've had so make sure you get one or two.

The inside is a bit of an eye sore and definitely more East Coast or NorCal/Oregon but don't be alarmed, the food is quality. If there's space, sit outside and take in beautiful downtown San Diego or...
