Santa Cruz Cliffs — Attraction in San Diego

Spent the whole evening walking along the cliffs taking in the incredible views. The path is well-established but gets difficult at times. There are sharp elevation changes requiring minimal climbing and the need to walk over rocks often. There was an abundance of crystal clear tide pools with juvenile crabs hiding in them. If you approach at the right angle you can watch them go about their business without alerting them to your presence. There are sheltered beaches where I saw people playing with their dogs off leash. One of the best places to watch the sunset! Two little coves offer a bit of privacy while enjoying the beach, but the stairs and cliffs are dangerous. Many people get drunk and hurt down here, so please be careful.

There is only street parking, so please be mindful of where you park and what you block in. Police frequently patrol and ticket for parking violations, as well as life guards in the summer have a permanent post and will ticket parking violations as well.

The Sunset Cliffs park is special. Some of you have forgotten that when you leave trash behind that it doesn't magically disappear and it shows. This patch of California coast line is some of the best in the world and it's my opinion that we could be Taking better care of it. If you pack it in, then pack it out and leave no trace behind. It's a simple premise that's proven almost impossible to do effectively as the Sunset Cliffs are plagued with intermittent litter and cigarette butts. We can do better people. You...
