Seeley Stable in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park is a wonderfully preserved piece of California's transportation history. Originally built in the mid-19th century by Albert Seeley, this stable served as a vital stop along the stagecoach line that connected San Diego to Los Angeles. It provided lodging for travelers and stabling for horses, making it an essential hub in the region's early days of overland travel.

Today, the stable is a museum showcasing a fascinating collection of stagecoaches, wagons, buggies, and other historic vehicles, giving visitors a glimpse into the rugged transportation methods of the past. The exhibits also include saddles, tools, and other artifacts that illustrate the hard work and ingenuity of early pioneers.

The Seeley Stable is an immersive experience that brings history to life, and the friendly staff and informative displays make it both educational and enjoyable. Whether you're a fan of history, transportation, or simply exploring Old Town, this stop is a must-see! It’s a beautiful reminder of San Diego’s role as a gateway to the...

Seeley Stable is a museum in Old Town San Diego that consists of a reconstructed stable and barns that house a collection of horse-drawn buggies, wagons, carriages and other western memorabilia. It probably was the first structure that Albert Seeley, who operated a stage line between Old Town and Los Angeles, constructed after buying the Bandini property in 1869. Seeley enlarged the barn with a single-story rear addition, erected new sheds and fencing, and put up a windmill for pumping water. This is one of the better museums in Old Town. It is also one of the larger ones. They have a great collection of wagons, coaches and a lot of western artifacts. It is spread over two floors. I did not watch it, but they also have a movie presentation. This is definitely a must see if you are in Old Town...

This large structure houses some amazing stagecoachs and wagons that used to be seen traveling up and down the California trails.

If you have ever tried to explain to your kids what a stagecoach is and how it would have been to travel in one, this is a place to stop. Their exhibits are well done for kids and adults, and the carriages are restored perfectly.

Make sure to talk to the workers there as they have a wealth of knowledge of the different displays and their history. You can't miss them; they are dressed in...
