To be honest this one star is for the customer service of this location. I take full responsibility that I messed up on the booking time. I booked a 930pm instead of 11pm. Again, this is my fault.
The one star is for the customer service when I show up at 11 and they have 2 other rooms that they can have us do at 11:45 pm but they wanted a $65 reschedule fee which is nowhere to be found in their website at all. The two other rooms were not booked and most likely won't be booked as we left around 11:20pm after trying to ask them why we just can't do those.
Again it is entirely my fault that I booked the wrong time not but to be honest, I prepaid and would have loved to do any of the rooms. They could have done this for us to show in good faith and we would have encouraged so many more people to come here but after this, no thanks. There is no rescheduling fee of $65 that I could find on their website but that is what they were asking for. Even if we were going to take an empty slot at the very end of the day.
Please don't make the same mistake I did and make sure you look at your time since they will not accommodate you at all. Again, this was very dumb on my part for not carefully looking at the time but they need to work on their customer service skills or clearly state their rescheduling policies on...
Read moreWe've done plenty of escape rooms, and Operation X-13 was one of the best. The funny room-rules video (instead of a typical boring one) let us know we were in for a good time. Our gamemaster Rowen was excellent, and we loved her participation as part of our "infiltration crew." The puzzles as well as the adaptive nature of the rooms (more than one) for this escape were so creative and exciting. The puzzles were challenging and intriquing, not just a series of locks. The way they managed to add an extra layer (bonus puzzles) to our experience so that we got the most out of it made it really satisfying. Having the radio ear pieces for communication was a big technical plus for us. (A lot of rooms we've been to have horrible speakers, which makes figuring out what the gamemaster said a distracting puzzle in itself.) The one thing I think could be improved is the computer mouse, or maybe just the setting on it, because not being able to zoom properly was frustrating.
Final note: I think an indicator of the quality of an escape room is how much we have to say and enjoy talking about it afterwards. We had a really good time talking and laughing about our experience for a long time over dinner after this one! I highly...
Read moreBest escape room and Game Master I’ve come across so far. We did operation X13 and out of ~10 I’ve done at different places up and down California, this one was the absolute BEST! Trapped! as a whole has compelling stories, immersive decorations and staff, a variety of different puzzle types (not just combo locks the whole way through), and creates an experience worth every penny. At the beginning we got some props that came in handy, we found useful items I’ve never come across before, locks and safes I’d never seen before, and it was awesome. If you’re looking for one of the best in the area, this is it in my opinion. There is another location in upland too that was very fun. But X13 at the San dimas location was awesome!
Also of note, Taylor was the BEST Game Master any of us had encountered this far. She was friendly, relatable, and her storytelling/subtle hints were very compelling and immersive. She pushed the experience from a 9/10 to 10/10. Definitely recommend doing a room with her in charge and highly recommend that the company give her a raise.
TL;DR Awesome experience, worth every cent. If you want a challenge do Operation X13. Taylor was a phenomenal...
