Update October, 2022.
On Saturday, Costco opens at 9:30AM and not 10:00AM as one source noted. Of course, the earlier you get there, the better.
A much improved experience overall. I updated the review to four stars. (My previous rating was two stars.)
The selection in everything from food, to electronics to seasonal items was fantastic.. tupical of Costco, the quantities were outstanding. Speaking of seasonal, this pre-Christmas season and we picked a few items for the holidays.
The big negative with Costco has been employees and customer service. Most employees were definitely more professional and our checker was very courteous. We engaged a few employees and they at least conducted themselves professionally (as should be expected). Keep in mind we visited when the store wasn't busy at all, although that could've (though not necessarily an excuse for bad behavior), could've contributed to our better experience. Either that or they have hired some newer employees with better attitudes.
We did have one gripe and that the receipt checker at the store exit. He was an American man with brown hair kind of gave off the vibe that we we were trying to steal the merchandise we paid for. He had this somewhat unfriendly but borderline hostile attitude. This is unfortunately what we have come to expect at Costco, and was something we had hoped would have improved. Next time, we will collect names and report them to corporate.
Either way, as previously stated, it was a much improved experience. Can't let one rotten apple spoil it for the more professional employees. As a direct result of this more positive experience, we plan to start shopping here regularly again. I will keep my reviews of Costco updated.
*Some of the employees have horrible attitudes.
We've been going here for over five years and each and every visit, there is some unhappy or negative employee that we encounter.
Our latest prized employee was Monique S who is a cashier. Upon arrival at her checkout area, she said "thanks for not being on the phone while checking out, we appreciate that".
She was unfriendly and unprofessional on top of her unsolicited rude comment.
Use caution, document, and record these rude and...
Read moreCostco San Dimas on Lone Hill Ave. mailed out coupons that were good until Mar. 31. I particularly like the $8 off on water filters. We went yesterday and found out that the store is closed for Easter. So I called this morning to see if they would still honor my coupon. Spoke to a lady who said no but she'll check with the manager. After waiting about 5 mins, a lady came on the phone and told me the same thing. I am a loyal fan of this Costco and spend a LOT of money buying almost everything that they sell. I should not be punished for a mistake that they made. Would it be so hard to please me by honoring the coupon one day late since it was not my idea to close the store on Easter and whoever printed the coupons screwed up ? This is the 2nd bad incident that I've had with this store. The 1st one was a very rude cashier who should not be working there. I plan to pursue this complaint with the Corporate Office until it is resolve. If not, I will surrender my Costco membership and see if I can get a prorated refund. Sam's Club is right across the street from them.
UPDATE: Costco San Dimas Asst. Manager Scott Bliss called me yesterday and invited me to the store to discuss my complaint. He also apologized for the wrong info that one of his admin employees said to me, which is also what corporated customer service people stated to me on an email reply. Coupon was good until Apr.1 because the expiration date on it coincided with Easter Sunday when they were closed. To make a long story short . . . we went to the store as soon as it opened, went to pick up the set of 8 Brita water filters ($43 without the coupon), and proceeded to look for Scott. He attended to us immediately. Not only did he offer to honor my $8 coupon, he gave us the whole set for free, no strings attached. He apologized again after escorting us to the exit door and asked that we remain loyal Costco customers. Most major corporations would not even bother reading complaint emails. Costco, to their credit, took a pro active approach and really went out of their way to make us feel important and happy. We will remain loyal Costco customers and will tell this story to all my friends and relatives. I also posted similar comments on the...
Read moreI have been frequenting Costco since it was originally price club I have never been treated as badly at a store as I was today I go to Costco at least a couple of times a month to meal prep and i went today to get my supplies. We decided to eat at the food court first before we shopped as a lot of people do before going in. It helps especially to not shop when hungry for us otherwise we will walk out with six hundred dollars worth of food. We eat and try to go through the lanes that separate the aisles and this cashier just us attitude about going through the lines even though we have been here literally a thousand times and it has never been a problem. She tells us we needed to go outside then come back in the regular way and I was like since when?! So we get their names and keep walking then we go to the produce section and it's an absolute mess I have to search high and low for a worker when I finally find one he gives me attitude when I asked him if there were any more bananas then grabbed a couple of other items then proceeded to go about our shopping visit. I'm next to the meat Dept and go down an aisle to grab something when I get back the guy from the produce section is rummaging through my cart. I say can I help you and he said oh I was informed there's something wrong with the produce. And I said excuse me Phillip your whole produce is messed up and he just started taking things out of my cart without asking. And I said excuse me can I have my tomatoes he said why is it in a bag there's seems like there's one or two more than there should be. I said well all the packages are messed up I threw them in a bag so they don't fall out that's not my job it's yours it's your department. He said in attitude you can have them if you want. Oh thank you so much for the awesome service you know I don't pay the excecutive fee and use my Citi card for nothing. This is innexusable and I have never been treated this way at Costco ever. Stay away from Phillip in produce. Martell and Andrea...
