When doing a random walk down market street in the morning before work the Chai bar caught my eye and I had to stop in. I was enamored with the decor and the friendly wait staff from the beginning. I am a chai fan and not really a coffee fan so it was a welcome sight to see something dedicated to coffees mistreated younger brother. I only did a chai in the morning so I can't speak to the happy hour or bar set up in the evening. However the place is very spacious and the ample seating and bar standing space would lend itself well to this.
The prices were all under ten dollars and there was an amazing variety of Chai options. I didn't even know there were that many outside of green tea. There are spicy options and sweet options and the sweetness is indicated on the menu as well. I had the Green Tortoise Chai and it was absolutely delicious. I paid my 5 dollars and had a warm cup of Chai goodness in my handing in about two minutes. The morning crowd wasn't too rushed so you can sit and enjoy the quiet or people watch out of the front windows. It was by far the best Chai I have ever had and I cannot wait to try some of the other flavors.
Like many of the others are saying the WIFI could definitely use some love and I am not sure its something you could do consistent work on. But if you are looking to grab a quick Chai without the hustle and bustle of a starbucks this is the place. Where Starbucks feels like a walmart of coffee this is your whole foods of coffee and worth it to stop by when you...
Read moreI went with the very conventional and popular Tiger Spice Chai blend, but it is an old favorite of mine so I had to go with it for my first visit to Chai Bar. I went with the almond milk this visit, but I have to try the macadamia nut milk next time as well as the Cub Chai that's lightly sweetened versus the Tiger Chai which is fully sweetened. Croissant was fine, but nothing too exciting or extraordinary. The space had a great vibe and I loved the decor overall. Great addition to Market Street and I love the dedication and celebration of chai overall - having to go to so many coffee houses with friends and sip on weak tea (if they even have tea on the menu, much less chai) because of the "espresso or bust" attitude, it was nice to drag others along to show that there is a world...
Read moreIf you like Chai, you should come here. It's my first visit and I'm sure it won't be the last. There's not really any nearby parking spots. Let's be honest this is San Francisco, a parking spot is not easily found. Anyway, it's a really cute Cafe/Bar. Love the ambiance, wall decor, and the layout. They have the bar and staff in the center. Which is perfect.
I had the Tiger Spice Chai which was not too strong. Tasted pretty good with almond milk. I also had their banana nut muffin. Tasted like it had toasted walnuts. It had a perfect combination of a crisp outside and moist inside. Was paired well with my Chai. The staff were smiley and friendly. They had a big selection of Chai to choose from so I can't wait to try a different one! By the way, they serve beer and wine and they have...
