Bazaar Cafe hosted our engagement party in their incredible garden. I can’t imagine a better place to host a gathering of 10-30 people. Their garden is beautiful and organic with plenty of books and crannies. It was a great place to host a party. Somehow the garden is always 5-10 degrees warmer than the rest of the city. It blocks the wind and keeps everyone cozy. We asked them to create a spread for us and they dazzled us with so many bite sized, delicious snacks for our guests. From a charcuterie board to bite sized Bundt cakes to buttermilk biscuits. They went above and beyond what could be expected. Oh and have I mentioned the cafe supports local artists and musicians?? It’s a cornerstone of the Richmond community. And we were so happy to celebrate in a place not only aligned with our values but where we know our money will help support the artists in our neighborhood. If I sound overly enthusiastic, it’s only because this is my favorite place in the city. Staffed by people who will get to know you and work with you to help share this incredible space for special events.

There’s not enough good things to say about Bazaar Cafe. Loved chatting with the barista/ cashier who had invented 2 signature coffee/ teas on the menu. Tried Mt Fuji Mist tea (sprinkled with Hibiscus sugar), the Caramel Rose Latte, and an Oolong bundt cake. Ended up going on a Friday evening, and there was an indie musician performing - very nice vibes. Grab a board game or read a book, or simply get lost in your thoughts in the cafe. Walked out into the backyard and it’s the most cozy little garden tucked away in the city and is perfect for hosting events. I left the cafe, wanting to go back there again.

I tried their Rose Caramel drink, it wasn't overly sweet like you would expect from a Caramel drink, but just right. The rose petals provided a nice aroma when I sipped the drink. It's a nice local Cafe, that's been serving the Richmond District for over 25+ years, I love the local feeling and the sense of community, I recently moved back to the Richmond district, it made me so happy that Bazaar Cafe is still here. I hope the Dalgon is back, that's my favorite drink. Oscar is very cool, he takes his time offering some friendly banter, gets to know the customers and just makes you feel welcome.

TO BIPOC CUSTOMERS — PLEASE BE AWARE: I’ve visited this café a few times, and on more than one occasion, my order was delayed while others who arrived after me were served first. Most recently, I waited over 30 minutes for a simple biscuit with butter and jam—even though the biscuits were already prepped and sitting on the counter.

I finally asked about my order and mentioned that this has happened before. I also asked if it might be because I’m a POC (darker-skinned woman of color) because I was the only dark person in the cafe. No one responded, but my order was suddenly completed within one minute.

I’m always respectful, I tip generously, and I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. But this will be my last visit.

These patterns may be subtle—but...

After a day at Crissy Field, we were looking for a nice spot to take a end-of-the-day coffee break. We found Bazaar Cafe, and were pleasantly surprised. It looked like it was closed (since curtains were closed over), but if you encounter that same issue don't let it deter you! The inside was eclectically decorated, and classic music filled the interior (had I brought something to work on, I'm sure I would have been as focused as ever!). The coffee, too, was very enjoyable. It is simple, but just what I was looking for. The real jewel of this cafe is the garden area in the "backyard." It was beautifully landscaped, and super relaxing (there was almost zero city noise!). In summary, if you're in the neighborhood, take a coffee break at...
