I’ve lived in San Francisco for ten years and haven’t made it back to the public pier walk that extends north along the water from the Ferry Building, but it’s gorgeous and super well maintained! It has some good spots for fishing and has water taxi access. I didn’t know we had a water taxi. I read that boaters can also dock their boats for up to three hours at Pier 1 1/2, but this should be confirmed. The walk along the piers extends down to the Exploratorium and is dotted with historical markers, flowers, restaurants, and nature and history informational visuals. There is seating and a public restroom (indoor walkway down from La Mar at Pier 3).

The Pier's location right on the waterfront provides unparalleled views of the bay and the stunning San Francisco skyline. The bustling Marketplace was a delightful surprise, offering a wide selection of local products and delicious treats. Pier 1 is a vibrant destination that offers a perfect blend of entertainment, art, and stunning views. It's a must-visit for anyone seeking a lively and culturally rich experience in San Francisco!

On weekdays you will see a lot of asian people fishing there in the morning and they will not leave the spot for you . Fishing rods are everywhere to ruin your pictures and views and i saw those people couple of time urinating in the ocean and then holding the fish with the same hand . Good luck eating in china town folks.

Quiet great views reduced noise. BUT for the night owls be aware that this pier is semi private and the long pier closes at 10pm till morning about 7am or so. Enjoy it from the area near the Starbucks and you should be good. P.S. NO PUBLIC RESTROOMS ON SITE. Nearest for sure is at FERRY Bld. Nxt might be in public walk areas on other side of Horn Blowers restaurant &...
