Relax and Recharge at Levi's Plaza Park in San Francisco
Levi's Plaza Park is one of those small green spaces in San Francisco that is often overlooked, partially because it is hidden behind a row of trees on one side and buildings on the other. I am fortunate enough to walk right by or through it every day of the week, not once but twice on my way to work and back.
Levi's Plaza Park, designed by renowned landscape architect Lawrence Halprin, opened in 1979 as part of Levi Strauss & Co.'s headquarters near the Embarcadero in San Francisco. The park seamlessly blends urban and natural elements. It features paved walkways, seating areas, water features, sizable lawns, and tree-lined paths and offers a calm retreat for the company's employees and the public.
Over the years, Levi's Plaza Park has become a much-appreciated community space, balancing urban sophistication with natural tranquility. Levi Strauss & Co. continues to invest in its maintenance and sustainability, ensuring the park remains a vibrant and inviting area for relaxation and recreation in the busy city.
If you're visiting San Francisco, Levi's Plaza Park is located slightly north of the Exploratorium on the opposite side of the Embarcadero. So, visit the Exploratorium, then walk across the street and enjoy a nice, relaxing break in Levi's Plaza Park. If you are hungry, you have a few good options. Fog City Diner and Pier 23 Café, both San Francisco landmarks, are on the park's north end. Fog City Diner is right at the intersection of Embarcadero and Battery St., and Pier 23 Café is on the other side of the Embarcadero. Finally, there is XICA Mexican restaurant across Battery Street and just a hop...
