I started renting from Turo About one month ago here in El Paso, and I have to say I freaking love it. There are some amazing cars at really good deals here and whether youâre trying to just get out of the day-to-day normal car that you drive or you just need something to replace your car for a little while while itâs in the shop, thereâs something for everyone. I have seen some pretty amazing vehicles, and Iâve actually rented a couple of pretty amazing vehicles at almost minimal cost. The host or the owners of the car, theyâre called host on the app, have all been great to rent from, Iâm actually in a 2024 Toyota Corolla right now that I rented for a day so I could get around because me and my wife only have one car at the Moment. It allows me to do what I need to do and you can rent the car for an hour, you can rent a car for half a day or seven days or a month if the host allows it. The taxes and fees are nothing like going to a traditional car rental company because those dinosaur companies charge you so much With taxes and fees that it almost doubles the price of the car. Iâm paying on average five dollars a day in taxes and fees and some cars are available as low as $60 for a day and I havenât rented anything more than $130 a day. They offer great insurance options in case you should need something like that, all in all man, Iâm a huge fan of everything on the app so far and all of the host here in El Paso that Iâve interacted with are really responsive and have some really beautiful vehicles like I said. Yeah, they got the exotic ones that get really expensive, and thatâs still cool man I mean where else youâre gonna rent a Porsche for a day for not a lot of money when you think about it and also thereâs a good amount of Tesla options and other electric vehicles. It may not be your best go to if you were looking to rent a car to travel across the country, you may still want to do a traditional car rental company just because of the unlimited mile options and stuff that some of those companies provide, but if youâre just looking to rent something that youâre gonna use here in the city, whether itâs leisure or business, do yourself a favor and download the app check out the cars see whatâs out there give it a shot because not only is it the way of the future, but the future is now and here in El Paso and I canât say it enough. Quick little shout out thereâs a amazing hidden gem in horizon, 2023 A spec Integra. There is also a Mazda 3 on the east side that is straight out of grand Turismo, I am shocked that this gentleman rents his car out, but it is a beautiful car to drive, it handles superbly and it just reminds you that cars can blow your mind. The bottom line is Turo makes cars fun again. You donât have to buy a $40,000 car to drive a $40,000 car and man just like renting a hotel and doing a staycation sometimes you just gotta like roll the dice and pick up your lady in a car that sheâs not 100% sure where you got it from but she is excited for a cruise up trans mountain. She can throw her hair down and Put on some sexy heels and letâs...

Back in March 2021, when the world was hoarding toilet paper and elbow bumping, I had an important trip to Atlanta. Traditional rental companies had sold off their fleets like it was a fire sale, and I was left carless in a world gone mad.
Enter: Turo. A hip new app promising peer-to-peer car rentals and adventure. What could go wrong?
Everything. Everything could go wrong.
First car: canceled due to "maintenance." Okay, fair enough. The host even offered a discount next timeâvery thoughtful of him and his invisible car.
Second car: Oh boy. Where do I begin? Emmanuel (bless his heart) was over an hour late delivering the car. I mightâve forgiven that⌠but the car was:
Visibly not as pictured (unless those pictures were from another decade) Running on empty (like, gas light ON empty) Freshly booted by the police (yes, he sent me a pic as proofâbold move) Reeking of freshly smoked marijuana, so strong it felt like the vehicle itself was trying to get me high Decorated with pubic hairs, fingernails, open alcohol containers, and other biohazards that shall remain unmentioned. Masked with enough Christmas tree air fresheners to make Santa gag. Under the pressure of standing outside ATL with no options, I reluctantly took the carâonly to realize Iâd basically rented a mobile health hazard. The tires looked like they had just survived a Mad Max movie.
Attempts to reach Emmanuel or Turo? Crickets. I ended up leaving the car in a garage, Finally I got a hold of Turo (as instructed by Turo after they couldnât reach him either) so I wouldnât miss my flight. Then, in the middle of the night, Emmanuel called and texted meâdrunk, angry, and confused. I tried to help him get treatment. Turo? Not so much.
Fast forward: I contact American Express for help because, Turo, just refused to help. That apparently violated Turoâs sacred Terms of Service. So, I was banned. Forever. Blacklisted. Not just from rentingâbut from even driving in a Turo. I still paid for the rental and was hoping to speak with a costomer service rep, no luck.
I later tried to appeal, hoping to talk to a human. Got a cold auto-response telling me my account is closed "permanently." Tried again a few years later 2025 and still black listed "forever". Meanwhile⌠Emmanuel? Still an active Turo host. Possibly still battling Christmas-scented demons.
Turo, I genuinely wanted to love you. But your customer service ghosted me and is unacceptable.
Please⌠can someone over there dust off my account, or at least acknowledge that I tried to help your intoxicated host return his own car?
Yours in hope and hygiene, A former Turo user who still has PTSD from that air freshener...
Read moreI have rented cars from Turo multiple times and each experience has been worthy of a 5-star rating. However, my most recent rental experience with Turo fell short of my expectations, mostly due to the host I rented from. I rented a BMW X7 from a host named Md R. Everything started smoothly except that he did not register the car with the Turo Go app correctly, which prevented me from unlocking/locking the car through the app. Nevertheless, I was able to get the key and the car and had it for a total of 10 days. Typically, on the day I return a car, I have it professionally cleaned to ensure it is clean and damage-free.
The host contacted me and asked me to take the car to another address near where I had picked it up. Being a good sport, I agreed and met up with his friend to hand over the key. I went over some things about the car to his friend before I left, and everything seemed to be okay. Or so I thought.
The host later contacted Turo and made a cleaning claim against me for $150, claiming that his car was scratched on the driver's side and there was an obscene amount of dirt in the trunk area. When I looked at the pictures provided, I discovered that there was only a small amount of residual soap and water from the car wash that had leaked inside the crack of the trunk area and dried in the inside of the car. This was something that could have easily been wiped off with a wet cloth in ten seconds. The host also claimed that there was a scratch on the driver's side door, but it turned out to be a dirt stain from a shoe or boot.
I contacted the host and asked why he didn't talk to me first and made it seem like everything was fine with the car. Unfortunately, I did not receive an acceptable answer. Instead, he asked me to look at the pictures he submitted. Turo charged me a $150 cleaning fee, and the host was going to hit me with another claim for the "scratched door," but Turo closed out the claim because the host did not send the proper proof in time. I guess the host found out that the alleged scratch was, in fact, a boot stain.
In summary, my experience with Turo was unpleasant due to the host's behavior, and I ended up paying a cleaning fee for something that could have been resolved easily. My lesson learned is to go over your vehicle a couple of times before you turn it in or you will end up with a situation like mine. if I would of doubled checked the vehicle once more before turning it in, I could of caught and correct the...
