I have never given a hotel all five stars except for this I wish I can give more but it won’t allow me. I booked this place for the San Jose Galaxy con for the weekend and I have to say I was really impressed. I’m so impressed that if I ever come back to San Jose, even though I live in Pismo Beach area, I will definitely come back here. The price was affordable. The rooms were awesome. They were excellent very comfy, but even better the parking structure these guys have is honestly like Fort Knox. It is so safe that you can come here park your car and it’s worth the $45 a day. You can feel safe in your hotel room but you can also see that your car is locked and secured and a parking structure that is only required by key but what is the most? I am actually grateful and I enjoyed the most was talking to Mary Adrian and Chase, those three people how to make my experience here one to remember for the rest of my life Mary was so helpful in the beginning with this reservation that I had booked a year ago she went out beyond her health capabilities, and she got it through and she was so nice and so very thankful and her hard work but also Adrian, who is the night console yet on some nights or some afternoons he is such an awesome guy. He has a great personality. He has a great smile and it is really fun to joke around with him, especially when he makes the jokes and it is so funny and nice to be able to interact with people that will respect you and them as well and Chase. Chase was awesome. He was able to also help me when Mary wasn’t available making the reservation to the beginning but he was also helpful in the bar but I could not thank this place anymore. It was a great place even better My dad came up for Saturday the one night and he enjoyed it the first thing he said to me he said wow you weren’t kidding about the parking lot. It is like Fort Knox to get into and it is safe and secure and he enjoyed even sleeping in the hotel room with me enjoyed actually just coming up here and having fun but what he and I enjoyed the most is the San Jose convention Center is honestly right across the street you can walk and he was so happy for that but he was also gratefully I’m so very thankful for this place and the people who work here they are part of the community and they treat everyone with respect I wish I can give them more stars but I can’t it won’t allow me, but if I could, I would give a 1010 the room is awesome. The bed was comfy. The air conditioning was great the TV oh my gosh I wish I could have one at home but I can’t. It was really impressive. They had a little mini fridge. But also the showerhead. Oh my gosh it when you turn it on it feels like you’re getting shot with a machine gun is so powerful and nice. My dad enjoyed that the most out of the tiny bathroom that and is in this room but that’s what comes with it, but what I wanted to say most to say thank you to everyone. I had an incident last night with a room number and I was able to get it handled but thank you.Hyatt place San Jose/downtown My dad also pointed out something that I didn’t think of but he and I both enjoyed it and had a good laugh. He actually enjoyed the lamp that is above the couch and if you look at it from a far distance, it looks like a engine booster from a Saturn five rocket but it’s very cool and that was actually one of the cool things about the room.

We stayed at this Hyatt November 22nd-24th as we were in town to attend the Joe Thornton retirement game. The hotel and rooms itself are very nice, and the location is great if you are trying to attend an event downtown. However, there were some hiccups during our stay that will prevent us from ever considering this Hyatt again.

Upon check-in they notified us that they had overbooked king rooms, and we were offered double beds instead. My fiancee and I weren't too excited at this and wondered how it was possible for this to happen and asked how they overbooked, unfortunately we were never given a straight answer. Fine, double beds it is.

On Saturday night we came back from the game and tried to park in the parking garage (which they charge $40 a night for...) and couldn't find any spaces. Maybe this was a mistake and we would be allowed to park somewhere else. I went in and talked to Albert Tinoco at the front desk who informed me we would be unable to park in the parking garage as there were no spaces available and Microsoft technically owns that building (the bottom floors), so we would need to find a parking lot nearby to park instead. Myself and a few other guests were very confused - how can you oversell parking to guests when there are a limited number of spots? You'd think they would have some type of tracking system to let them know when they have to stop selling parking passes as some guests would be unable to get a spot (that they paid for). We asked Albert how this could be, and he let us know that they do cap how many parking spaces they allocate to guests, but then later backtracked and said that parking spaces are "first come first served" (which is backtracking on the previous statement). After getting the runaround about 4 times and being frustrated with his lack of service and effective communication I asked Albert where I could park where I would not get my "sh*t stolen", and Albert told me to keep it professional and not cuss at him and completely changed his tone. I mentioned I was talking about my car, not him as a person and was not aggressive in any manner. The whole experience just felt awkward and I would have thought there would have been some sort of "sorry" from the company that had the oopsie, but I guess that's just what you get at this organization. Unfortunately, my fiancee and I just had to drive around and find the closest lot that had parking (about 3-4 blocks away) and pay $40 to park there instead.

If you need a parking spot that will be there when you return from an outing while you are staying at a hotel, I would strongly consider your other options over this Hyatt. Being a Hyatt Rewards member and using Chase to transfer points over, this was a very disappointing first...

Zero communication for our room block, worried only about their legal liability and not our customer satisfaction.

I will try to be as fair as possible, because I don't actually tend to complain about service very often, but I had a poor experience with the Hyatt's group booking process.

We booked a courtesy room block for our wedding in June. It did say reservations were based on availability, but it had an expiration in late May, and we were supposed to get a free bridal suite if it filled up.

Turned out as far back as April we had friends who called and were told they were booked up.... but no one from the Hyatt let us know. By the time late May came around, our friends and family had not filled the block (because they were out of rooms!), and we (the bride and groom) didn't qualify for a free room (fair enough) and couldn't even pay to get a room for ourselves. We ended up having to scramble for a room at a different hotel at the last minute.

It would've been nice if the Hyatt warned us when stock was getting low, but at the VERY LEAST they should have informed us when they had fully booked up, so we would have known to make alternate plans sooner. Instead, they completely ignored us between last September when we booked the block and late May when we finally called them to check on the status.

(Yes, we could have been more proactive about checking on the status ourselves, but I have a friend who booked a courtesy block at a different hotel for a different event, where the hotel constantly kept them apraised of the latest status of their block, so we were expecting similar service.)

Furthermore, when I notified the Hyatt about my dissatisfaction, they called me, and basically the first thing they said was, "We fulfilled everything on the contract." No apology, no empathy. Their only interest was in covering their legal liabilities and making sure I wasn't going to sue them. (They made excuses about having new management, and how the person who booked our block had left the company, but they should have had proper hand-offs; that was not an excuse.)

At no point did they express that they could have done anything better.

Note that they said they are no longer offering courtesy room blocks, so I guess that's one way of dealing with this problem, but I'd still be pretty wary of dealing with the Hyatt and recommend that you keep in mind they don't care about their customers; they only care about their explicit legal contractual liabilities.

So while I can't say what staying there is like (because we couldn't get a room!) I can say that the experience of dealing with their booking process has soured me...
