Despite completing a dream of swimming with two of my favorite animals in person (a manatee and sea turtles) I felt pretty uncomfortable with this tour. I hate that I have to share that, but they don’t send you your photos and videos until you leave a review (when, for $99, you honestly should get them automatically), and I feel compelled to leave an honest one. It certainly could’ve been worse, but it also could’ve been better, which is why I want to share my honest thoughts, which I regrettably didn’t feel comfortable doing in person. So here goes.
My instructor could have greatly improved the experience by taking more time to explain and assist myself and the other person who booked the tour that day. There was one other (very nice!) gentleman who signed up for the tour and who felt a little apprehensive about the swimming. However, it was clear he was willing to try. The instructor sort of let him fend for himself and after only a few minutes of the gentleman having a problem with his flippers the instructor told him he had to get out and (presumably) leave without getting his money back. I honestly believe if the instructor had stayed near him and attempted to help him for just a few moments he would have been just fine. Instead, the instructor complained about him to me and kept it moving. (The instructor also made fun of a heavier woman to me, calling her a manatee, before we even began the tour. I didn’t even know how to respond; it made me really uncomfortable.)
In general, I think he could have been a little more patient. With me, he kept swimming away to show me spots and then got upset with me when I lost sight of him. He told me I can’t swim off by myself and even when I explained that he was swimming too fast to the point that I could no longer see him under the water, he still insisted that I was just trying to get away from him, which really put me out of sorts. I’m only an okay swimmer and I would’ve felt so much more comfortable if he had gone at my pace rather than continually leave me behind.
I came to Puerto Rico to support the locals, and I only found out once I got to the tour that the owner is a U.S. citizen from North Carolina. The two instructors with us were also not from Puerto Rico. I wish I had been able to directly support someone from the island, so for that reason and the reasons mentioned I wouldn’t recommend this tour. Instead, grab a snorkeling kit and head to Escambrón beach to snorkel by yourself. It isn’t hard to do it solo and you’ll be saving yourself a...
Read moreJet Snorkeling was a great time.. however finding the location was a bit confusing since the gps was throwing us off the beaten path. Upon arriving we noticed massive potholes in the area where Yeshua was parked, so we decided to park near an abandoned restaurant and walk over, so that we didn’t ruin the car rental.
We were instructed on how to use the power jet pacs by Yeshua- he was straight to the point and offered us a bottle a water.
I would recommend leaving your personal items such as your phone, wallet, purse, etc in your hotel because if you bring it you will have to leave it behind in the back of Yeshuas vehicle, because such items are not allowed on the snorkel tour. I also advise you walking with your shoes or sandals to the beach area, because the floor is hot like lava.. I noticed a couple take off their shoes during the instructions, and they were literally hopping as if they were stepping on coal, all the way to the water. Also, If you get sea sick I would suggest taking a nausea pill an hour before going out and put on some sun tan lotion if you don’t want to get toasty.
Me and my sister had a lot of fun snorkeling around the waters with the jet pac, we seen all sorts of fish, underwater sunken vessels, as well as turtles and on land we saw Iguanas.
We spent in total about an hour and a half exploring.. and after the tour, Yeshua offered us a drink and requested that we write a review prior to him sending us the video of our underwater adventure. I did feel this sort of “barter” was unnecessary and it made me think that my footage would’ve been held hostage if a review wasn’t left, which should never be the case.
It was a good time and I would do the jet snorkeling again.. however send your customers their videos without being worried...
Read moreThe guide Juan literally grabbed and squeezed my wrist hard enough to make me squeal when I told him I lost my snorkel and then yanked and jammed the remaining mask on my arm and said “carry like this”. It was very choppy that day and I was struggling a lot with sea sickness and kept needing to take my mask off. In one of those times the snorkel must of come off. I was trying to explain this when he did that to me and scolded me like an idiot. I literally had thrown up at some point. I was about to offer to pay to replace it when he did that. He was also annoyed at my husband when he lagged behind and got mixed with one of the other several groups. When we met up at another point in the tour he literally said “not this guy again, where is he” when he wasn’t my husband missing it was some other person. He was yelling frequently at the whole group, very short tempered. It made the tour, which was already difficult due to sea weed, wind, and choppy conditions, unbearable. We even had 20ish mins free time and no one stayed in. Everyone got out in about 10 mins. The entire group was talking about his bad attitude and as for the videos and pictures. Umm ya sure. Poor quality and weird angels. Go with another company. These people are awful. And I’ve been snorkeling all over the world many many times. They should have called it due to weather but also this wasn’t a tour this was someone yelling at your and making you go around as fast as you could. I saw 1 turtle, 1 fish, and...
