Ikura Bistro Sushi Bar — Restaurant in San Juan

So I have a lot to say about this little place. First of all I think the quality is incredible especially for what one would say is just a hole in the wall. And it literally is since it’s take-out only you place your order through a hole in the wall. I wish they had a website with a menu with pictures available. I like my sushi restaurants like my Denny’s, with lots of pictures! But when you order here it’s just some white paper taped to the door and you’re standing there kind of awkwardly trying to place your order with someone in a window. I would have liked to at least have had a head start on my order. Also I must say that for take-out only I think this place is a bit over-priced. However as I’ve said the quality and freshness are incredible and I often find many places in San Juan to be pricey. So all that being said. If you’re in the area stop by!! But as someone else posted it’s probably not worth an Uber...

What an amazing find! We were trying to escape the hustle and bustle of Old San Juan, and we were craving some fresh sushi. The restaurant seemed to be family owned, the man that waited on us also made our sushi and dang did he do an amazing job! Not only was he extremely kind and helpful, so was everyone else that worked there. Everyone pitched in to attend to us and make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. I got the Caterpillar Roll and my husband got the Coconut Eel Roll and Mackerel Sashimi. The sushi was so fresh, made super quickly and it had the perfect rice to protein ratio. We have been eating here for years. It is consistently delicious! Very friendly and warm atmosphere. They treat you like family. Take-out only at the walk-up window. No Dine-in available. We usually call ahead to order out. It is so worth it. Everything he makes is so flavorful. We love the sushi and soups. Parking is a little difficult. But if you order ahead you can park for a short time in front of the store for picking up. Reasonably price for the quality. The location is great because it’s right off the main road and easy to find. This is a family own business and you get that sense when you are there which is a nice bonus. We will continue to go...
