In an effort to expose our children aged (2,3) to the various arts and history that helped shape our communities and culture we make it a point to visit shrines, expos and museums. We feel it is important to teach and expose our kids to these experiences and thus it is an integral part of our parenting plan. Today our family visited the William s. Hart museum. During the guided tour my oldest child who is part of the autistic spectrum began to hum to himself as a soothing method as a way to cope with anxiety he suffers in the presence of mderate groups. The security guard very rudely exclaimed that if i didn't silence my child i would have to leave immediately. In response i apologized for for the inconvenience but explained that my child is autistic but offered to comply with the request if it bothered other patrons. I was aproached by several other visitors who assured me an apology was not warranted. However due to the level of embarrassment because of the ordeal we felt compelled to head toward the nearest exit. Never have we felt the level of humiliation we were subjected to by this guard. The events of today cannot be changed but perhaps a course in sensitivity towards patrons would benefit this guard greatly.

Read moreThe reason you cannot HEAR is because William S Hart did Silent Western Films!! OK enough stupid jokes. This is a Must see if you are visiting Santa Clarita (SC). It is located in Newhall (Another Home to visit in Piru), named after the Newhall Family. Below the house is Heritage Junction. A kind of train station-house-animal petting zoo-park area. There is lots to see if you enjoy Historical. The sad thing about the Hart House was he had a very exclusive Revolver Collection which was stolen about 20 years back. Most if not all the furnishings are original. It requires reservations and if not free they are reasonable. This is Not the Hearst Castle! OK? If you go North on Newhall Ave (about 2 blocks and then turn left on 8th street. Follow 8th all the way to the dead end and on the Right is a beautiful tudor style house(s)! These are old Charlie Chaplain House. Over by Master's College is the Western Town you've seen in Gunsmoke and lately Deadwood. But both are private properties. So don't...
Read moreInsightful and interesting museum that was the home of silent film star William Hart. He bequeathed the property to the city of L.A. with the following stipulations: the museum and park remains free for the public's enjoyment and animals must live in the property. Well there is a wonderful barnyard with ducks, geese, chickens, rabbits, pigs, alpacas and wild boars. Delightful! Plus the Heritage Junction and campground are next to the William Hart Hall where you can learn about the history of the area from docents. I took a terrific tour of the William Hart museum and highly recommend it. Tours offered WED through SUN 11-4PM. Photography without flash allowed and our docent was very knowledgeable of the home, sculptures and artwork, architecture and life of Mr. Hart. Absolutely a gem of a place. Hike a few of the trails and learn about Fritz, Mr. Hart's...
