Why I Recommend The Junction in Old Town Newhall
The Junction stands out as one of the finest dining experiences in Santa Clarita, bringing a distinctive edge of craftsmanship to foods and drinks that people genuinely love. It's the perfect starting point for a Friday or Saturday night out, especially for date night, with other breweries, pubs, and wine bars within walking distance to continue your evening.
What makes The Junction special is how they apply creative craft to familiar favorites without veering into pretentious territory. Their cocktail program exemplifies this approach - the Painkiller delivers a creamy coconut rum experience that transports you to the South Pacific, while the Mezcal Sunset offers an intriguing balance of tangy, sweet, and spicy notes with a potent kick.
For food, nothing in Santa Clarita compares to their 40-ounce Tomahawk steak with sides. Though listed for two, it comfortably fed six of us during my wife's birthday celebration. Beyond this showstopper, their menu excels across all categories - the braised short rib delivers complex comfort, the Loco Moco makes for perfect post-workout satisfaction, and their French dip stands out with its saucy, juicy perfection.
The Junction succeeds where many restaurants fail - creating a space that works for every occasion, from casual meals to elevated date nights to special celebrations. It's not another cookie-cutter chain restaurant; it's a place with a distinct personality and consistent quality that makes every visit feel worth the investment. Whether you're a local or just passing through, The Junction offers that rare combination of creative quality, satisfying food, and an atmosphere that's both comfortable and...
Read moreAbsolutely blown away by this place. Having walked by and seen a crowd the week prior, I went out on a limb and decided to book a reservation for our anniversary dinner. We didn't have much to go off of because we knew nothing about the place other than the aesthetic.
This was such a great choice. First of all, they gave us a great seat where we could see the restaurant in all its glory. Then they made us fantastic drinks. They weren't overkill and didn't taste like bottled cheap ingredients. They were refreshing and clean. Then our main course came. Not only was it beautiful but it was so good. Not like oh that's pretty good. I'm talking, we will never go anywhere else in the Santa Clarita Valley over this place. That good. I had the steak and my husband had the pork. Holy goodness it was unreal. And not those tiny little portions you sometimes see at trendy restaurants. This place totally delivered.
On top of that the service was perfect. I worked at a Hillstone Restaurant Group restaurant and have high expectations when it comes to service. These people were all charismatic and knew how to interact with guests. From the server to the general manager to the owner to the buss boys. I was so incredibly impressed. I don't think I can say that for any other restaurant I've been to in the last 10 years.
They made our night so special. The general manager hand delivered our dessert and the owner even came by to wish us a happy anniversary.
If these people keep doing what they're doing, there's going to be more business than they know what to do with.
If you have any doubts on whether you should try this place, take it from a very critical person and just go. You will not...
Read moreWent to celebrate my mom’s birthday with the family and had a less than average experience. Service was on point and super friendly, but food not so much. I wanted to say something in person but it would have upset my parents. I got the ahi tuna tacos and they taste delicious until I started eating it without the tortilla shell and realized how low grade quality it was. It was the low end tuna that you blend up for spicy tuna rolls. Not quality at all. Had connective tissue in almost every bite. You would never know if you ate it without the hard shell. My dad had the loco moco and it was average, nothing special; Newhall Refinery is not only better, but less expensive. My brother got the chicken and waffle, waffle was dry. My son had the kids French toast and didn’t like it. Didn’t even eat half. My mom had an omelette and it was alright, nothing special either. Grandma had French toast and it was good, but the outside was hard. The inside was soft and delicious. We haven’t been here in years and it was a let down coming back today. Probably won’t be back. Sad that my mom’s birthday brunch was less than expected. Especially for the prices. I can’t believe the quality of tuna would be tough and have connective tissue for $26 or whatever it was. That price of fish should have melted in my mouth. Very disappointing. Service was great! Waiter was awesome! We appreciated how he went above and beyond for our table. Food was a let down, especially...
