Although I like this gym and our family loves the weight equipment, the M/W/F evening Zumba classes can be a disappointment. When the club first opened they had some of the best Zumba instructors in town on M/W/F evenings.
Since that time, one awesome M/F instructor has retired from doing Zumba and the other top Wed instructors have left the gym. After the first turnover of skilled Zumba instructors, the gym hired two exceptional seasoned replacement Zumba instructors, and the M/W classes became packed again, only to lose the exceptional instructors in a matter of weeks. Once this happens (and it happens regularly), the M-W classes return to being lead by "new-to-Zumba" instructors. Friday evening can still be a good class, depending on the instructor.
The problem with the "new-to-Zumba" M-W evening instructors is that they tend to have very little dance training (especially Latin dance training) and have an incredibly small set of "dance moves." Only one part of your body gets most of the dance workout with little-to-none arm movements that usually accompany dancing. The step repetition begins to hurt either your knees, calves, or hips, depending on what steps are being repeated over and over.
Because of the basic step repetition, members leave class about halfway through. Students are bored of the same steps over and over in each routine and lack of heart-pumping music. Also, the "new-to-Zumba" instructors lack the high level of workout intensity that the seasoned (exceptional) instructors 1st employed had, so you end up waiting for the pace to challenge you and a higher ferocity of music, which doesn't happen. The lack of proper pacing is another reason people leave class early. The class size also begins to dwindle week-after-week under the "new-to-Zumba" instructors.
The Saturday morning Zumba instructor is good. It's a 10:00 time-slot, so her class is usually light. She'd be great addition to one of the M/W evening Zumba time-slots. She's lovely, and her class can be fun. I have yet to try the Tues/Thurs evening Zumba classes to see if they are better than the M/W. I like doing Zumba every other day. I'll update this review when I do.
Another issue people have with this club is having to physically go into the gym to change their membership. You can't do it over the phone or online. For some reason this particular Crunch gym is owned differently. Even though it is listed with the National Crunch website, you cannot use your portal to make payments, adjust your membership, etc. It's rather odd. Good luck finding out who owns the gym if you have a problem. I'm not sure I've ever seen a manager.
The gym is clean, and we enjoy the staff. The members are nice and the weight room courteous.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreFor anyone signing up for a membership through the Active and Fit Direct program, dont delete your fitness card. I visited Crunch fitness back in February to check it out, and I guess they signed me up for a 3 day trial (even though I didn't want it). Then in August I get an email at work saying they will partially reimburse me if I sign up for a gym membership. I went to the gym on August 1 with the paper work from the work program (active and fit direct). The people behind the desk at Crunch took the paper and type something on their computer. They hand me the membership card. I'm confused it went so quickly and they didn't ask me to sign any forms. I asked them if i had to sign anything and they said no. I went in the next day, scanned the card and everything went through. I figured everything was fine. I went in today and scan my card, and the guy says that I am not a member and that I was not allowed in the gym anymore. This took me by surprise, but only a little bit. I explained my side of the story, but he was sticking to his professional stance of "you're not allowed here anymore". After some back and forth he asked for a confirmation email. I didn't get one from Crunch when I signed up, but I still had my work program confirmation email. So I showed it to him. He then takes that info, puts it in the computer and asks me to sign some stuff. I get that the guy is doing his job, but I am paying for a membership, so it didn't feel great that Crunch was willing to kick me out of their gym without finding out my side...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat place to work out. Gym is super clean. I like the set up. Free weights in the back, cardio centered and off the right is racks (wall balls, pull ups etc) and a padded area for tires or sleigh push/pulls or Lunges let your imagination go to work. They also have fitness classes, I haven't attended any yet. They have spray tan for us ladies, or message stations which is part of your membership. There is no sauna or pool (which I don't mind I never used them any ways) last they do have a large studio room they use for classes/TRX or you can use too if you want. Good location and the staff is super friendly and happy be there. Very helpful. Every conversation I've had with staff has been happy, helpful and professional. Bathrooms/locker rooms are clean. I always would recommend locking your stuff up just to be safe. They have locks for sale and they are only 5$. So they are not trying to rip you off. The monthy cost is as little as 15 per month up to 35. Even at 35 per month it's affordable and with the 35 per month you can bring a friend unlimited. That's awesome! Highly...
