Sausalito Jewelers — Attraction in Sausalito

My wife's original engagement ring and wedding band were heirlooms that were a stunning art-deco piece, but aged and brittle enough that during our active lifestyle, workouts, etc... the band would warp, and lose diamonds. Over the years, it finally became brittle enough to crack, and we decided to upgrade for our 10 year anniversary. We're pretty modest people, and aren't well versed in jewelry, so as my wife took the reigns, I trusted her to find an appropriate spot. We had a plan to go into the city, and somewhere near Union Square visit "Brilliant Earth", and as I am prone to do... looked them up on Yelp, and at the last minute cancelled the appointment. It is obvious that this was a "turn and burn" style diamond supplier... ie they've all the diamonds in stock, and they want to push them out. It's not personalized, and although I am sure they do a fine job finding conflict free diamonds, it just felt too corporate, too high pressure, and simply put, not at all special. So, I do my research and lo and behold, I've not seen higher ratings for any business, ever. Here's why this is the greatest business I've ever patronized:

Sam, Jess, and Aida are class acts. Warm, genuine, kind, earnest gentlepeople. It's not a sale, it's a relationship, and it's obvious the whole gang rather not sell you something than sell you something that doesn't fit your preferences. Their ability to educate, inform, and have fun while they do it is really refreshing.

Hospitality and service.... sparkling/still water during initial conversations and when we came into the store. Always welcoming and service oriented without being over the top. When we finished and picked up the ring, they broke out a split of Veuve! =) What a tasty treat to round out the experience.

They'll show you where they do the custom work, and their hardworking jewelry maker, an old school Italian craftsman. The work they accomplish out of that space is nothing short of miraculous!

What's more, they're in the future! They've a 3D Printer that can create hard wax versions of your eventual ring, so that you can design the setting and ring exactly how you want. Because it's a 3D printer, they can reprint it and update your design as many times as necessary to get it precisely right for you. You will never, EVER walk out of this store with something that isn't absolutely perfect for you. It's amazing.

Their communication is bonkers amazing. THAT is a hard nut to crack in this day and age, because its so often we are lost, as consumers, to bad work flow, and forgetful employees. Not here.... they are so transparent, througough, and expert communicators.

I am sure they've diamonds in stock, but do those diamonds speak to you? Probably not. They run the most informative and satisfying clinic on diamonds, their history, how they are rated, what cuts you might want, and what carats are right for you, and inform you of the in & out fashion trends. It's fascinating how Instagram is informing the fads and trends of diamond interest. Lucky my wifey is a trendsetter and outlier... she wanted a radiant cut, which isn't instagram hip as a cut right now, so it truly provided more bang for the buck.... more carats at less price than the other trendy cuts. BUT.... they will hunt the entire world for that perfect diamond, to make sure it fits your style and pocketbook. Ours was found in New York, but overnighted and to say we were blown away doesn't do it justice.

I am so impressed, to the point of exceeding character limits, & not being able to organize my thoughts properly. The TL;DR of this is simple: Support this amazing local business, support these wonderful people who are basically a family of friends that get to charm and delight and amaze people with what they do, and how they accomplish it.

This is a relationship, & we're smitten. I've never been happier to spend money, because it's anchored by obvious passion and skill, talent, & honesty. We'll be back, time & time again. It's rare to find a place that is a no brainer, but here we are....

Ever since the first time I walked into the venue I could tell there was something special about the place and the people. The staff were so personable, and the shop was so inviting!

To preface, I had purchased a gorgeous piece of tanzanite years ago, but I was uncertain of who I could trust with making my design and dream come to life (while also considering the delicacy of tanzanite). In the wrong hands—my beautiful gem could have been damaged, the design could have compromised, and as a result—I would have been heartbroken. None of that was the case though with Sam in charge!

Sam was highly recommended by my father, as they have worked down the road from each other for many years. As soon as my dad said he knew the right man for the job, I was sold!

Sam was very receptive when it came to my preferences and managed to intricately combine the tanzanite and my grandmother’s engagement diamond into the perfect pendant that complements and completes my engagement ring and wedding band. The design I had in mind was totally executed and wonderfully improved. I was almost in disbelief when I saw how gorgeous the pendant turned out because it felt like I had been dreaming about this piece for so many years… and it was finally reality! I left the shop in tears of joy alongside my mother, and we sniffled and wiped our tears away while in awe of how beautiful my pendant turned out. The sentimental value was not only preserved but also enhanced by Sam’s talent and heart. I will treasure this piece for the rest of my days!

I cannot recommend Sam and Sausalito Jewelers enough. The joy that I felt in that shop still resonates deep in my heart today, and I cannot help but smile when I think back on my experience in the wonderful seaside shop on Princess Street.
