Venice Gourmet Delicatessen in Sausalito is the kind of spot that feels like it’s been plucked straight out of a European postcard. Picture this: the sun glinting off the bay, a quirky little storefront with retro vibes, and inside, a spread so colorful it practically winks at you. This deli is like the best friend who always knows exactly what you need for lunch—and throws in a view just because.
Walk through the doors, and you’re hit with a smorgasbord of goodies that scream “eat me.” Shrimp-topped salads piled high with avocado, vibrant bowls of pasta, artichokes, olives, and all the deli delights your heart could desire. It’s a feast for the eyes as much as the taste buds, with each plate looking like it’s auditioning for a magazine spread.
But Venice Gourmet is more than just a meal; it’s a treasure trove of gourmet goodies too. Need an artisanal snack for later? Or a quirky sauce that’ll make you look like you actually know how to cook? They’ve got you covered, with shelves brimming with everything from local treats to international finds. And don’t even get me started on the copper pots and vintage touches—they’re like little winks to the past, adding to the deli’s irresistible charm.
So, if you’re after a bite with a side of bay views and a hefty helping of charm, this is your spot. Venice Gourmet isn’t just a deli; it’s a whole vibe. Grab a sandwich, soak in the scenery, and let yourself get lost in the laid-back, delicious magic...
Read moreGood place to get tomato soup to warm up by the waters in Sausalito.
I got the tomato soup cup (price: $8.95, including tax (9.25%): $9.78) and it was very delicious. They added for some courteous and cheese on top which was a nice touch. This tomato soup is not as creamy as other ones I’ve had. It’s more a vegetable soup broth consistency, but it’s just as enjoyable.
I came in on a Saturday in November and there wasn’t any line to order, so I was able to order quickly and my food came out shortly after. Since there wasn’t that many people I managed to get a table and had a nice view of the Sausalito waters!
The inside feels like a speciality Italian grocery store. It reminds me of another Italian grocery/sandwich shop I used to visit and it feels very cozy. They have a counter where you can order food like sandwiches, salads, and soups. They have many tables inside as well as outside.
Parking: It was a bit difficult to find parking in Sausalito downtown, since many of the lots were full. We managed to get a spot after another car pulled out. It was a paid lot (through...
Read moreReturn customer to Venice deli, only 14 years in between. Food is still delicious and portion sizes large. Ordered the club house sandwich on danish bread $13.95USD. Also had a picolo of prosecco which was a steal at $5USD. Service speed was not too bad considering it was right on lunchtime. Sat outside in the sun and enjoyed the million dollar views.
Suggestions- ordering process was confusing. You order at the front counter but then have to go around to the side counter to pay a cashier that did not take your order and has to ask the person who took the order. People queue in the wrong spot and two lines form. Be better if everyone ordered from the cashier.
The menu signage was on a fluro green background which was really hard to read and doesn't suit the aesthetic of the otherwise beautifully presented store.
A champagne flute would have been a nice touch for the prosecco instead of...
