Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have visited this restaurant several times, more than I can count but have never had a dining experience as I had tonight. I did some shopping in the Quarters and decided to stop in for Happy Hour. When I arrived, there were two bartenders behind the bar and 3 Caucasian women dining at the bar. I sat down on the right side of the bar at the farthest end on the left side right across from the ladies that were dining. There was a bartender (Randon) shaking up drinks directly in front of me, he never greeted me, gave me a menu or asked if I would like a beverage, not even a glass of water. The restaurant was not busy during this time so I can only assume he was mixing drinks for the patrons not sitting at the bar. From my past experience, bar tenders are very attentive and will usually state that they will be right with you... not Randon. I sat there for at least 3-4 minutes and stared in his face until he could not help but to make eye contact and he asks, "have you been helped", I said "no" and I asked for a glass of water. The bartender (Devon) on the other side of the bar came into the area and Randon asked him to retrieve my water.
I will give anyone grace if they are truly busy however, he joked and laughed with coworkers in my presence throughout my dining experience and never once asked if there was anything else I needed. There were several patrons that came in after me (Caucasian) and sat right beside me and he assisted them and passed out menus before they could get comfy in their seats. The ignorance was blatant and in my face. At one point, he walked around the bar and asked patrons if they were ok and never said a thing to me. Devon (the other bartender) was very gracious and assisted me, took my food and beverage order and for that, I thank him.
Before the end of my dining experience, I shared my concerns to Brandon Sumney, the restaurant manager, he apologized, comped my meal and beverage and offered me another generous pour of Rose'. I thanked him; however, I did not visit True Food for a free meal but for a dining experience where I feel welcomed and attended to. Mr. Sumney stated that he never knew Randon to be anything other than a great person and I expressed to him that he was given that chance to be that person however, that was not my experience. Regardless of race, color or creed, we should all be treated fairly, this is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst, I do enjoy this franchise, so what I am sharing I will take as a one-off experience based on what we saw. We arrived on Sunday afternoon during Brunch and in spite of looking pretty busy, were seated immediately at a high top. Great. But then, I started seeing things going on around me which said they were not having a good day. The person next to me was told by his server that they took half off of his bill. A woman across from me at another table sent back a drink to the bar and they made her another one which she still didn't look happy with. Someone behind us sent their food back to the kitchen. Mind you, this all happened in the course of while we were waiting for our server to take our order. I ordered my standby - the Mediterranean Breakfast Bowl - which was excellent as always. My wife ordered (as she has before), the Farmers Market Scramble and surprisingly, we had to send it back. The scrambled eggs were totally abused in that they were overcooked to the point where they were browned like you would see with a frittata. Those eggs normally are treated with kindness and they arrive almost soft scrambled - glistening even. Here's my problem with what happened and this is important. Someone in the kitchen obviously WAY overcooked them and they made the decision to still send them out REGARDLESS. The runner clearly didn't look at what they were serving us or they would have noticed something was wrong (or they were too new to know). My Bowl is a chilled/room temp dish, so there was no rush to get our food to us lest my food would get cold. No issue there, so for the extra 3 minutes it took for them to remake her dish the right way if they had done it in the first place, it would never have been noticed. We did see at least two other tables who also sent something back to the kitchen. I'm going to write this off to they were just have a bad day. We will be back to give them another chance so that they can show us that they can execute and deliver food well made, not just to us but to other patrons. Thanks...
