I used to think this was a pretty good spot but I don't have plans to return. Too bad, because it's one of the few places serving late and it's not covered in TVs; I like the atmosphere.

This is from my most recent visit, but it was a last chance because it's been a while since I've had a good experience there.

Food: I ordered what was described as a double cheeseburger and instead got a Big Mac - surprise, it tasted like a McDonald's burger, not something I'd expect to pay so much for. I don't have to like everything, but the fries were worse; they were very few, they were old, and they were unsalted.

Drinks: I ordered an Old Fashioned as soon as I saw my server, no ice; intending to enjoy it while I waiting for my burger - I finally received it after my meal. Initially after waiting for the first 15-20 minutes I tried to get my server's attention several times because I wanted to cancel but was ignored. When it arrived I told my server that the drink is wrong, but that I'm fine with that since it's been so long I'm no longer interested and because the plate was awful but I was hungry so I just wanted to eat it quickly and leave. 5 minutes later someone else brings ANOTHER drink that I had to turn down...

Service: They have tons of staff but somehow I've found my table underserved on multiple occasions. When you have their attention they are very pleasant. I reported the problems with my meal once my server appeared; they talked to their manager and informed me that I wouldn't be charged for the drink that I didn't accept as though that was doing me a favor. I ate my meal so I don't think it was appropriate for a full refund, but it was definitely not worth full price - whatever I'm...

This is a unique dining spot that blends a laid-back, rustic vibe with inventive comfort food and a lively social atmosphere. Here’s a breakdown of the experience:

The atmosphere strikes a balance between casual and trendy. With industrial-chic decor, cozy seating, and live music on select nights, it’s a perfect place for group outings, happy hours, or casual dates. The open space design with lively energy makes it feel bustling without being overwhelming.

The menu focuses on elevated bar fare with creative twists on classic dishes. Popular dishes include:

Pretzel Bites with Fondue: A standout appetizer—warm, soft pretzel bites served with rich, creamy cheese fondue.

Fried Chicken: Crispy, flavorful, and served with sides like buttery mashed potatoes and biscuits.

Mahi Mahi Tacos: Fresh and well-seasoned, perfect for seafood lovers. Their diverse menu also offers vegetarian-friendly options and inventive salads.

The bar is a highlight, offering a wide selection of craft beers, inventive cocktails, and a strong whiskey list. Signature cocktails like the El Matador (tequila with elderflower and citrus) are a must-try. The drink menu complements the food perfectly and keeps the vibe fun and relaxed.

Service is typically attentive and friendly, with a staff that makes recommendations and keeps the experience enjoyable. However, on busier nights, expect a bit of a wait, though the lively ambiance helps pass the time.

Culinary Dropout is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a fun, social dining experience with solid comfort food and great drinks. It’s not ideal for a quiet dinner, but perfect for relaxed gatherings or a...

Order: WAGYU PIGS IN A BLANKET, BBQ PORK BELLY NACHOS, STRAWBERRY & SPINACH SALAD, MONKEY BREAD, TIJUANA SPA WATER

So good news, if you plan to impress your new date with a luxurious environment surrounded by finance professionals this is the place for you. The atmosphere is very pretty and has a great vibe for post work drinks or weekend dinner plans, although a literal infant may just run into the kitchen. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating.

So the bad news. The food that you read about on the menu is not what you should expect to eat. The “wagyu” Oscar Meyer weenie crunch blankets seemed soo promising and where dinner began to fall flat tonight. The pork belly nachos were huge (which everyone loves a large portion, points for that) just didn’t have pork belly on them? Almost like those little piggies went running after the first appetizer… Strawberry and spinach salad had minimal spinach and strawberry. I also asked for chicken on the salad but that never made it to my plate. The Tijuana spa water was lack luster and poured lightly. And finally the pièce de résistance, monkey bread. They had their own interpretation of the 90s homemade dessert, but I wasn’t mad at it.

You can literally tell that the high price for a dinner for 2 goes directly to the atmosphere (and I hope the staff).

I wouldn’t tell anyone to visit this restaurant and I personally would not...

My wife and I recently enjoyed a delightful lunch with my sister and her husband at the Culinary Dropout in Scottsdale, situated in Kirkland Commons. This popular and spacious gastropub provides an enjoyable atmosphere and several dining areas, which are ideal for groups, complete with numerous TVs for sports viewing and an area for adult activities like ping pong and cornhole. Their menu features a selection of craft cocktails and beers, along with starters and antipasti, classic pub fare, salads, and Detroit-style pizza. Entrees include beloved pub favorites such as fish and chips, 36-hour pork ribs, fried chicken, pub burgers, and sandwiches. Since it was Sunday, they also had a variety of brunch options available. Our server was exceptionally attentive and provided excellent service. Following her recommendation, I decided to try the fish and chips. My wife opted for the Asian crunch salad with shrimp with a Thai curry vinaigrette. The fish and chips, though tasty, was a little greasy, a sign that the oil needed to be changed, and the Thai curry dressing had a bitter aftertaste, which could have used a little sweetness to it. Overall it was a good experience I will say that the food at the Arcadia location is a little more to our liking.

One of the biggest differences eating out here vs NYC is space. There’s just so much more space. One of the most memorable aspects of CDO was not just the sheer size of the venue but how interestingly it was laid out. I don’t even think I saw the whole space. Open high ceiling casual to the right as you enter, more formal traditional high end seating to the left and then just beyond, another hybrid more casual space with a corner for solo live music. Even a corn hole toss area. Our server was super friendly and came around in the sweet spot between hovering and MIA. He even gave us suggestions for local places to check out. Ok, the food. Overall - pretty tasty, well executed food. We got a lot (first meal after a 5hr flight!). Gochujang brussel sprouts- very delicious with that slight/spicy Korean pepper sauce. The sprouts were cooked well (not super crispy like I once had in Texas) and tasted terrific. The deviled eggs with prosciutto was just ok. The barbecue pork with fries and Cole slaw was fall off the bone delicious. The fried chicken was breaded but still tender and juicy - even the breast meat! The whipped feta dip was creamy and tangy. The meat lover’s Detroit style pizza was excellent. Ask in all - highly recommended!
