I was in a serious auto accident yesterday. I went to honor health Osborne emergency room today. I got there at 12:00 and I waited until 3:00 p.m. when I first arrived there were about nine people in the emergency room. After a few hours everyone was seen in the emergency room but me. Then in the later afternoon another group of people came in and were waiting for treatment as well. So for 3 hours, despite seeing huge bruises on my body just about everywhere, somehow they felt that I was not very important to them. I had visited this hospital emergency room a year before when I took my wife in. We had to wait three and a half hours. They determined that she had a benign brain tumor. She had been treated for something similar 4 years earlier and she fully recovered in a month. This time she was treated in Honor Health neurology wing. Their surgeon removed the tumor, but she was incredibly sick for 3 months afterword. We tried to get a follow-up appt with the surgeon, but he refused to see her. She eventually got better physically, but they completely wiped out her short term memory. A few months later, she died unexpectedly. This is a horrible horrible hospital emergency room to go to. Almost any other place would be better.
On November 2nd 2024, a car hit me. While I was riding my bicycle. I got a chance to try out. Out Scottsdale Osborne healthcare again in their emergency room. The only difference was instead of making you wait in the main waiting room for 3 hours, they built multiple small cubicles for you to wait in instead. Still took over 3 hours to get any kind of treatment and that was in the middle of the day. I was never seen by a doctor, only a nurse practitioner. For the amount of money they charge in the emergency room, you would certainly think you would at least be seen by a doctor. Still think they're a...
Read moreThis place is a joke. I should have listened to all the bad reviews that was posted. This place is no longer an Emergency Room like Emergency Rooms use to be. This place is more like an Urgent Care facility now or a State Hospital Emergency Room. I was shocked that they only have one Emergency Room doctor available. Yep! One. Unless they were lying to me. After the Emergency Room doctor who really didn't want to help me cuz, she was so quick to head home. I asked for the other Emergency doctor on staff to see me. They told me I had to be discharged. Go back out in the waiting room area and get resigned back in again in order to be seen by the other doctor. So, they could get some more money from my insurance company. I felt I had good beside manner and help at the real Urgent Care facility that I went to compared to this place. I also advised the patient services lady who came into my room my updated doctor's information. But, of course! Like all the other bad reviews my old doctor's information was still on the discharged paperwork. How clueless can she be? But, I betcha she got all my Insurance Information correct in the system. Next time! I'm heading straight to the Mayo Clinic like my friend told me to go since, I'm a patient there. So, I can get better care and treatment like Emergency Rooms should be. And, by the way. There was a nurse screaming that she was leaving cuz, she was getting abused by a patient in a room. She couldn't take it! She told everyone behind the glass that she was sorry but, she had to leave and go home. This sounds more like stuff that goes on in the State County Hospital's not stuff that goes on in a regular Emergency Room facility. Times have definitely changed that's for sure. Welcome to Honor Health. Where there's no Honor in...
Read moreWait is more than 5 hours (still not seen) with NO heat in the waiting room in January. If you come here bring a laptop, dinner, a fully charged phone, air pods & blankets. There will be No helpful communication at all.
The guy upfront said this is how triage has been done for 100 years and that’s the way it is, You can’t tell me that there isn’t a better system- they just don’t care because the demand exists regardless of how bad the service or system is. Historically they have the numbers they know if they have 50 people in the waiting room what a general range of time is going to be. Letting patients know an estimate (without a guarantee) could give them less stress even if they have to stay on property, giving them peace to be able to go to cafeteria or into a prayer room, etc..they should set up a text system with real time HELPFUL information.
Guy up front also told me that if I leave & come back my insurance might not cover it. Talk about a rigged system where you lock people in - without having to provide proper service.
Being in an uncomfortable waiting room for 5 hours with NO updates adds STRESS to people already struggling with a health condition. Your patients know that there can be more emergent cases come in- they aren’t demanding to be first but we all should expect better communication.
Get better tools, a better system, better information, care about how your patients feel that have to wait.
Once you get beyond the waiting room. Staff keeps you informed...
